I had only charged each of them 200 dollars in rent, with utilities and property fees all included. Now, all my goodwill had been treated like shit. Taking a deep breath, I pushed the door open and went in. The laughter inside the room stopped abruptly, and the air froze in an instant. Sharon Lister was the first to react, forcing a smile onto her face. "Jessica, you got off work so early today. Have you eaten yet? We've made pizza. Come have some with us." As she spoke, she pulled me to sit down at the dining table.

Elijah & Caleb’s POV The burger smelled amazing when the lady set the tray down. The fries were golden, the soda fizzed, and the buns shone like they’d been brushed with magic. Usually, I’d grab the biggest one first, and Caleb would whine about ketchup. But tonight, neither of us moved. Caleb poked at his fries. “They’re cold already,” he mumbled. “They’re not,” I said, just to say something. I bit one—it was hot enough to burn my tongue—but even that didn’t make me hungry. My stomach felt funny, like it had a knot in it.

“You looked like a video of one of those fainting goats.” She grunted and pulled the blanket over her head. “Did you just call me a goat?” “If the hoof fits.” I sat down on the edge of the futon, close enough to nudge her leg. “Listen. It’s not normal to spike a fever in ten seconds flat and then forget how doors work. If I don’t get your mom on the phone, I’m calling the CDC.” Her voice was muffled but stubborn. “It’s a panic attack. You know I get those.”

Since Austin had been too busy, he made three simple burgers. His cooking skills had improved these past few days, and the burgers smelled delicious. You can hurt and tear your stomach if you eat spicy food in this situation. "Are you Saher's friend? As far as I know, this company doesn't need employees anymore…why is there a new cashier all of a sudden?” he asked without turning to look at Beth.

I was staring at my laps at this point. Goodness why did this have to happen? Why did you have to do this to my dear lousy stomach? I bite the inside of my mouth. If only I could just punch my stomach I would at this point but that would only hurt me. "Thank you ." I muttered. "You don't have to act all embarrassed, everyone gets hungry." Caleb chaffed as he gave me a shoulder bump and I opened the chips. "I know thank you." I replied as I gave him a small smile as he was staring down at me with an equally bright smile.
