The worn cover feels heavy in my hands as I walk back to her and place it gently on her lap.
“After she died,” I say, my voice low, “I found this.”
She looks down at the diary, her fingers brushing over the cover. Slowly, she opens it, her eyes scanning the pages.
“She detailed everything,” I say, my voice trembling. “Her whole affair with Christopher. The meetings, the lies, the promises he made to her. The love they had for each other.”
