“You looked, I don’t know, peaceful.” “Honestly, this book is terrible,” Audrey said, holding up some thriller that I vaguely recognized. “I don’t know why the hell Annabelle has it on her shelf, but I fear for any of the recommendations she’s been giving out at the bookstore.” I suddenly realized where I recognized the book from. “Oh, that’s the one that all the book clubs were reading a while back,” I said. “She probably only got it because of that.” “Oh, that makes more sense,” Audrey said. There was an awkward silence. “So, are you going to sit down or what?”

Maybe it was just a desperate attempt to feel useful. When I finished, I drIfted to the bookshelf near the fireplace. I scanned the tItles slowly, looking for somethIng light. Anything without mates, romance, or fated connections. The irony wasn’t lost on me, I was trapped in a twisted version of one of those stories. Only in mine, there was no love. No happy ending. Just guilt, betrayal, and aching confusion. I chose a hIstorical novel and curled up by the window. The cardIgan and fuzzy socks I wore kept the cold at bay, at least physically. But my thoughts wouldn’t quiet.

This is going to be nice, I just know it. I spend hours cooking, snacking, reading, and it feels like a dream. I must do my objective here first. at last, now here in the History section. unlike the books from other shelves who has the same way of oldness in them, the books in the History section has different stages of being old. some are really worn out and some where just fairly new. grabbing a random book, I skimmed through the pages, wanting to know what era or year this was written, or what year did the content of the book happened. but the book only talked about the happenings of the coronation of the King Youseff Troy Von Travensky and Queen Violetta Suzette Perues. grabbing another book, i skimmed again but it was not the one i was looking for, ‘Maybe i should go for the newer ones.’

I say. I hope so. I really hope he’s right. I look at the clock on the wall and it says 1:48PM. I open my laptop and I start to read. The book I have to read is actually a historical book based on arts and crafts in the 18th century. It’s not a romance novel, so forgive me if I’m not very excited to read it. I could read 600 pages of a romance or horror novel, but my reading assignments are just not inviting enough.
