The smell of wet forest after a long rain and sun heated honey, wakes me from my sleep. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to escape by now, but nothing I do seems to work. More and more wolves are going missing, if Tam’s growing hysteria is anything to go by.

Phobos pipes in telling me of his doubts about my accomplishment of his exercise. Grinding my teeth I claw on it and adding pressure to it has a piece pop up from the page. I startle dropping the book to the grass floor, caught off guard. Peering in I see fur peeking from underneath the piece. Time is running out. Taking a small breath I slowly tear the piece from the book. It comes off easily as if it was meant to whilst uncovering a small picture of four baby wild hares sleeping in a basket. There weren't merely four hares but eight.

I feel the panic start to rise up in my chest and between running for my life and trying to keep calm well it's becoming difficult, no Calm down Bree this is just a dream I tell myself. A dream I’m dreaming and any minute I’m going to wake up, that seems to be short-lived when I feel something hot blast right past my face, holy shit that felt very fucking real, what the fuck was that? I reluctantly peer over my shoulder and instantly regret it, there are at least 8 people screaming and chasing after me. Where the fuck am I? And what do these people want? As I’m running I pass a sign that says Welcome to the city of Houndgrave known as the home of hell hounds. WHAT THE FUCK i scream out loud,

He says answering my thoughts. “You said you found something?” I say trying to change the subject. “Yes, I did. Luna, you were right, these wolves are the pets of hunters.” Doctor says and waves us over to come and look at the books laid on his desk. I look down at the books and just by looking at them, you can tell they are old. The pages are a yellowish-brown color with perfect handwriting.

“The witches.” I couldn’t breathe, they were supposed to be coming for me, not him. How was I even going to make it back? I was in agony, my vision was blurring. The streets were dark with only a few lights on. I wasn’t even sure if I could remember the way back. The book. The one Logan had given me, it said wolves can link their families. I didn’t know if it would work, but I had to try. “Sam??” I call out as tears ran down my face, there was silence, I wasn’t even sure if it had worked.

The voice in my head perks up, and it becomes giddy. The room smells like honey, clouding the usual caramel scent. "I told you, anywhere the Luna goes, the Alpha follows," my mind preens, basking in the scent. He was here? My heart stutters, and I try desperately to calm it. The window is open, the curtains shifting with the night breeze. I rush to the open window, leaning out and looking as far as my eye can see in the dark... which is actually quite well. Down there by the lake, I spot a figure. An animal moving away, but its too far to make out what kind. It's big like a bear, but it doesn't move like one.

They had tried to follow the wolves' trails, but they lost them at the river bank. "I can trace the wolves." Karen broke the heavy silence after some time. "How?" Harriet asked, and they all turned to face her. A person who claims they can follow the wolves' trails is supposed to spend most of their time with them, just like the packs' spies. The wolves had a faint scent, which would never be located by novices. They were created that way so that lawbreakers will never get their scents in case they were after them and ran away.
