“A book?” “Based on the blog. Expanded. More structured. She said the voice was–” I stopped. Felt stupid saying it out loud. Felt like bragging about my words in front of someone whose body was about to be valued in millions. “Was what?” “She said the voice was the most honest thing she’d read about young love in a decade.” The dark was quiet. Then his hand found my face again. Cupped my jaw. His thumb on my cheek. “That’s because it is.”

I deeply appreciate your presence with me throughout this whole process, thank you genuinely from the depths of my heart. This book is incredibly important to me, not just because it's my first story, but also due to your choice to read it. You assisted my characters in discovering their voice. You brought my dream to life! You've demonstrated that narratives, even those written with some doubt and optimistic expectation, can resonate with someone—can resonate with you.

"What's your favorite book?” I thought for a moment. "Hmm, that's a tough one," I said with a low tone. "I'd have to say...'Pride and Prejudice. It's a classic, I know, but there's something about Elizabeth Bennet, her intelligence, her...growth throughout the story. It's inspiring, in a way. It reminds me to...never judge too quickly, to always look for the good in people." Noah smiled. " Interesting. I've read it, of course," he said. "It's a...solid choice.

I nodded and he smiled. “Pack up nice clothes. Miami is not all that friendly. I would know that cause I grew up there.” He warned and I nodded. “Great. So, what were you saying?” He pointed to the book I still had in my grip. I looked down at it for a moment before glancing back up at him. “I didn't know you read.” I mentioned as I placed the book on the table. All your perfects by Colleen Hoover. “I used to read a lot. But lately, I haven't read a good book. Coleen is a very wonderful writer. And this book is a bomb.” He said, shocking me. He must have noticed that I was shocked with the way my lips parted slightly and my eyes widened.

“I love you too, baby.” I settled back against him more and looked at the book. It was in the witch’s language, the language they were taught to read and speak as soon as they began school. “Learning anything good?” I asked him, gesturing at the book with my fork. “Tons!” he exclaimed. “Watch this.”

Ava The Las Vegas Book Festival was held in a sprawling park just off the strip. Tents stretched across the grass, white canopies flapping in the desert wind. Authors milled about, clutching coffee cups and clutching their nerves. Readers wandered between booths, arms loaded with books, faces bright with excitement. I was scheduled to speak at 2 PM on the main stage. My talk went well. Better than well. The crowd was warm, engaged, full of questions about forgiveness and healing and the stories that save us. I read from my novel—the passage about Elena learning to be alone—and watched as people wiped their eyes.

From time to time, Kail kissed her cheeks and caressed her hair sweetly. Silje couldn’t believe this was happening. I will definitely check out the book you mentioned. Karin Fossum’s ‘Don’t Look Back’, right?” “Yeah. You’ll like it. It won the Glass Key Award and it starts out like this: ‘Up on the road everything was quiet, and a breeze that had been playing amongst the buildings during the night that had finally died down.’”

"She loved chaos." "Same thing." --- The fifth book was published in the fall. The Shape of a Future, it was called. A meditation on building a life when the foundations have been laid by others. On finding your own voice in the chorus of ghosts. The reviews were quiet — not loud, but thoughtful. People recognized the honesty, the vulnerability, the refusal to pretend that the past was simple. This is not a sequel, one critic wrote. It's a prayer. For the ones who came before and the ones who will come after.
