To my surprise, as I pulled the huge book of History Buildings, I found a small book behind it. My eyes widened; my heart accelerated. Was today my lucky day? I set the huge book of Building History aside and took the book that was behind it. The front and back cover was torn but I knew this was the book I was looking for. At the bottom of the book, in pen, it was written; Roger Canaff. I took the book together with the Greece Building History book and headed towards the encyclopedias. I did not bother to read the book, instead, I decided to read the summary on the last page.

The title page reads A Complete History of the Cults of the Dark God, 1862. “You just didn’t want to get your hands and clothes dusty touching all these old ones.” Passively, I gesture to my clothes – which are indeed covered in a light layer of grey library dust.

He then grabbed a chair from beside me and put it in front of me before taking a seat on it so he was just facing me. My fingers pressed the hidden latch. Click. The secret compartment slid open. But… It was empty. I blinked, confused. No. That couldn’t be right. I had put the book back. I was sure of it. I had closed the secret compartment myself before leaving. My heart started to pound faster as I stared into the empty space, cold air rushing over my skin like a warning.
