“Tell me what the assignment is, exactly.”
“Compare Wuthering Heights and Frankenstein,” I recited miserably, “in terms of how they explore the theme of obsession and its destructive consequences.”
Hayden blinked. “That’s… intense.”
“Tell me about it.”
He tilted his head, thinking. “Okay, so… Heathcliff is obviously obsessed with Catherine. That obsession destroys him and basically everyone else in the book, right?”
“Right,” I said, nodding slowly.
“And Frankenstein’s obsession is creating life, which, spoiler, doesn’t go well.”
