"You wanted me to make a scene." Jade's lips curved into the tiniest smile. "Did we?" Before I could respond, the hall doors burst open. A figure strode in, power radiating from every step. The crowd parted like water. My breath caught in my throat as I recognized him. Everyone knew who he was. Zane Darius. The Rogue King. The wolf even Alphas feared. His eyes scanned the room before landing on me. Something sparked in those dark depths. "Am I interrupting something?" His voice was velvet over steel.

I had no idea if it was good progress or not. Reluctantly, I wiped a tear in my eye. No, don't get me wrong, I was fine or maybe I wasn't. The book I'd just read had the most beautiful ending. And I wasn't a big fan of happy endings, so me saying that was a big ups to the author of that book. I glanced at both stacks again. A good number of them were romance books and spoke about love and all and it was weird. Why? Because Noah gave them to me. Yes, the ruthless Alpha Noah. He was so against love and women entirely, so why did he recommend a handful of romance books for me?

"Stop!" I shouted after I leap in the tall gates of the mansion. The rogues stop and the warriors of the West snarled at them. There are more wolves groaning and whimpering on pain, I hate hearing the warriors of the Langston palace get hurt so I raise my head high and with all my strength I let out a loud growl. Showing the sharp fangs on my mouth and then my claws on the ground, I am the powerful Alpha King. The strength of my words echoed through the entire mansion and across the Western lands. The rogues bend down and lowered themselves kneeling before me.

This was not how her life was supposed to begin or end. "She's not ready! You're mine, not hers! I gave up everything," Rosa started to stalk towards Riley like she was ready to kill. Once she hit a certain spot, she started running at Riley, and she knew in that moment she would die unless someone did something. She looked at Ollie, who had a sad expression on his face. That's when the Rogue King stood in front of Riley with his claws extended and slashed her mother's throat. Her mother grabbed her neck and fell to the floor.

He grinded into the phone hanging up. Rome glanced at the flashing screen of his phone, he wasn’t surprised that King Kade had shown up all alone, he could pretty much guess what he wanted. A dangerous smile ghosted across his face, startling gray eyes going cold and calculative. The Alpha King had to be pretty desperate to come knocking on the doors of his terrain, he would have his fun with him. He pushed off the wall to continue his journey when a rich smoky leather scent caught his attention and in the next moment he was pinned against the wall.

“You all should say something else because that tale is as old as time. Just one slave and suddenly, I am a bad guy?” I watched the blank look on Blaise. Not bothered by it. He has always had that look when I talk to him about Noura and me. “Let's get this over with.” I cleared my throat. “We got an Intel yesterday on the Rogues.” I brought out a brown envelope from the drawer. I tossed it towards Blaise. “The Rogue King?” Blaise looked at me, confusion oblivious in his eyes as he stared at the open note. “Yes,” I said. They have a new king now and he's no other than Scarface. The Scarface every coward fears."

Silently, Keziah walked out of the office with her head bowed in embarrassment. After it came to her realization that Ash was a king, she had been trying to settle things between them and have him back because, after all, he was her mate, but to no avail. When her father, Alpha Kepha, knew about Ash being her mate but she rejected him out of Larrisa's threats, he had been pressuring her to get back with him. Her father was thirsty for royalty, and he kept on saying that if she became her Majesty, he would get to gain the royal image as well.

But she hastily stands and storms towards the door. I start to sigh in relief but she halts and turns at the last minute. "You do know that he was the one that suggested to his father that you get executed and your family be sold as slaves, right?" I get momentarily frozen by shock. And Rose pulls the door open and leaves. I take deep breaths but they don't help. My mind somehow remembers that moment when I demanded to be punished in place of my mother and everyone was so pissed. The King himself was seething. Then Evan walked forward and whispered in his father's ear and the King's frown turned into a smirk. I didn't hear a thing he said but it's now so obvious what he suggested to his fath

A searing heat flooded my core, rushing all the way up to my flushed cheeks. I waited for him to shove me off. I waited for the fury. But Varek didn't move. He lay perfectly still in the snow, the cold doing nothing to cool the blazing, predatory fire in his dark golden eyes as he looked up at me. His gaze dragged from my parted lips, down the length of my messy blonde hair, and rested on where my hands pinned him down. A slow, dangerously amused smile curved the corner of his mouth. "Interesting." My breath hitched. And in that terrifying, electric moment, I realized exactly what I had just done. I hadn't just survived the training yard. I had just pinned the Alpha King.
