I ask them as I try to relax. "It's been weird not having you bossing us around," Garret says with a cheeky smile. "I don't boss you around, I like to think I'm fair." "You are fair, we couldn't ask for a better boss," Finn says. "So, your hands will always shake like that?" Garret asks as he looks at my unstable hands. He seems embarrassed he asked but I don't mind him asking questions about it. "The doctors aren't sure, I've been doing exercises to regain the strength but the shaking could be permanent. It's not as bad as it was so there's hope," I say as I try my best to smile.

I knew that was false, he did not appear like he killed for sports but there was something also dangerous about him that I was yet to put my fingers on and it wasn’t because of the fact that he had a ponytail. He flipped his phone out of his pocket which gave me ample time to watch him, the strain of his jaw against his skin and that tic… it was always happening. “Your jaw moves” I blurted, blushing again when he turned incredible blue eyes in my direction. “What?” It was his turn to ask “Your jaw… the tic” I tried to explain, sighing before reaching to touch what I was talking about. “Oh that, it happens when I am stressed, angry or feeling frustrated” he told me, eyeing me knowingly.

“Are you all right, Fay? You’re not hurt?” I shake my head no, but then realize that I’m trembling all over. He watches me closely. “Um,” I say, trying and failing to put a smile on my face. “I’m really okay? I don’t know why…” I look down to survey my shaking limbs, “I don’t know why I’m shaking?”

"Take this. It is going to help. It is part of the symptoms of withdrawal." I reached out to take the mug, but my fingers trembled. I looked down. My hand was shaking with a small, uncontrolled twitch. Dom noticed it instantly. He set the mug down on the nightstand for a split second. "How is the taste on your tongue? Any bitterness?" "No," I whispered, staring down at my trembling skin. "I think the remedy really worked yesterday. I didn't really feel bad last night. It's just… the headache and… this… this constant twitch in my hand right now."

The echo of his voice through the wall, sharp and dismissive. ‘Because none of them were worth talking about.’ My hands started shaking again. I pressed them flat against my thighs, holding them still through force of will, but the trembling crept up into my shoulders, my jaw, the backs of my knees. I squeezed my eyes shut and stood there in the dark, attempting to steady my breathing. It wouldn't.

I swallowed hard and managed a smile. “Umm….yes, I am,” I mumbled. Alexei sighed, taking my hands in his. “No, you’re not. Your hands are shaking. Come here, let me warm you up.” I looked down and relaxed my knees were bobbing, and my hands were trembling. Wh-when did it start happening?

I didn't like it. By the time grey light started coming through the curtains I'd already made up my mind. I sat up carefully and swung my legs over the side of the bed. My right hand started almost immediately. That familiar tremor that lives in my fingers now like it had always been there. I pressed my palm flat against my thigh and waited it out. Thirty seconds. Maybe forty. It steadied.

I confessed. He halted, gently turning my face to meet his gaze. "Are you in pain?" he asked. I let out a sigh and resumed walking, with him following closely. "Do you know why I take that pill? I suffer from tremors and anxiety when I'm scared or anxious," he revealed. "Stop beating around the bush, Jolaade. Just tell me," he urged. "Would you mind if we stopped over there?" I gestured towards a nearby restaurant, suggesting we grab a bite to eat and chat.
