Teddy wasn’t pretending anymore. Ava’s eyes turned red with rage as she listened to Teddy’s words. “No big deal?” She repeated, trembling with anger. “Breaking off our engagement isn’t a big deal Teddy? You mean humiliating me like this is no big deal?” Teddy's expression remained cold and unyielding. “I'm not breaking off our engagement, Ava. I'm just postponing it. And as for humiliating you, you're the one who's been playing me all along. You're the one who set Jane up and manipulated me into divorcing her.”

I gently pulled off my suit as I sat on the couch. “So, since we have been able to put Zane and Elora behind bars, I assume our alliance is slowly coming to an end. I was thinking we need to figure out what story we are going to give the public when we break up.” Her words sank in slowly, like poison in the bloodstream. My eyes widened, searching for any sign that she was joking or for a sign of hesitation at least, but there was nothing. “You want to break up?” I asked, my tone showing disbelief.

Searching for something. Anything. A reason not to believe what I was seeing. But heartbreak doesn’t wait for evidence. It rushes in first. Destroying everything before logic has a chance to speak. A tear slid down my cheek. Followed by another. Then another. Until I couldn’t stop them anymore. Seven years. Seven years of marriage. Seven years of trust. Seven years of believing I knew my husband better than anyone else. And now… I wasn’t sure I knew him at all. The phone slipped from my hands onto the bed.

I broke up with Andrew as fast as I could. I returned every gift he had ever given me, packed my things, and moved out of the apartment we had shared. In the shortest time possible, I cut every tie between us. However, to him, I was just being dramatic. He kept coming after me, complaining again and again. "Over one experiment? "No." "Why?" "Because you're a stranger." "I'm the guy you kissed." "I kissed your helmet. That's not the same as kissing you." "It's closer than most people get on day three of a breakup." "We're not broken up. We were never together. There's no breakup."

It sets you free. She prayed she and Beau and her siblings and friends stayed happy and loving in their relationships. They had been through a lot together. They broke each other yes, but they fixed those cracks with gold and it was beautiful. This was our routine, until one day when she told me that she wanted a breakup. “I want a breakup.” She said and I just looked at her surprised and wondering what I did. “You did everything. You are not a man, and I want to carry my own kids. I was glad to enjoy this sexual adventure with you but I think we should end it. Actually, it is ended. It’s getting boring for me. I just did what I did now because I want to give you a proper breakup.” When she said those words, she left without even listening to me.

I have read a few novels and watched a few series wherein the main character had broken up with the one that they loved, and from there, they have had sleepless nights. Milo and I have broken up. I was the one who ended it. I was the one who wanted it to happen. I may regret it but all I did was save myself. I wanted to save myself from the pain and my heart from being torn into pieces. But I was wrong.. breaking up with him did not save me. In fact, it broke me twice as hard. I thought that if I break up with him, I wouldn't be able to feel pain anymore. But no, doing that just made me feel a lot more pain that I am afraid I might start to become numb.

Chapter 6 Upon hearing Kevin’s words, Sharon bent her soft smile. Then she lowered her head and fiddled with her delicate fingers. “Liam is growing up so fast, Kevin. I just got fired from the bakery I worked at yesterday because it went bankrupt. I have to leave to survive. I don’t want to keep bothering you. You’ve already helped my family too much.” Kevin kept a sad expression as he silently watched Sharon. Soon, this beautiful woman sitting in front of him would be leaving him.
