EMBER~ As soon as I opened my eyes, the realization of the special day settled almost instantly. In excitement, I came out of bed and headed to draw the curtains aside. I pushed the window open to be met with the cold fresh air, but it’s kind of refreshing. My cheeks dipped with a smile as I looked around the beautiful landscape. Yellow lights in every household and the blue light of dawn spanned across the woods far off. My gaze drifted to the exposed plains at the other side of the pack and I smiled in satisfaction.

Slowly, the first light of morning began to bleed across the horizon. The dawn didn't arrive with the usual muted grey tones of a chaotic Manhattan morning. Instead, the sun burst through the clouds with an extraordinary, blinding brilliance. Vibrant ribbons of deep gold, crimson, and brilliant pink shattered the dark skyline, casting a warm, luminous glow over the glass towers and the distant, sparkling waters of the Long Island Sound.
