Forgotten Embers

Forgotten Embers

It told the story of Ramus, a man spiraling out of control, and though it was never directly addressed, a clear picture was painted of his dissent into the darkness of selfish ambition. As she read about the hero's decline into villainous treason, Avera couldn't help but wonder about the man who was writing. 'It is a brilliant presentation. I wonder how long ago this was.' She closed the book on her hand and consulted the cover. 'E. H. Webber... I'll ask Mr. Waverley about him when I see him.' She opened the book again, continuing on in her reading. On another such occasion shortly thereafter, my work brought me to the southwestern region past Laoce, and on my return from the mountains to Py

Jasper: The Beginning (Book 1)

Jasper: The Beginning (Book 1)

Pointing this marvel out to Rowan, he asked, “How did we manage it? Not only is it impossible, but we should be feeling the repercussions of traveling at warped speed. Yet, I feel fine.” “We moved at a normal and respectable speed,” Rowan informed him. “We simply traveled on an alternate vibration where time is not measured in the same way.” “It all looked the same,” Jasper said with confusion. “Of what I could make out, that is. We traveled so fast…”

Light & Darkness: Book 1

Light & Darkness: Book 1

- Alice shouted cheerfully, apparently wanting to improve the atmosphere a bit, which had become a bit sad because of Meredith's story, which in turn was completely out of place for a birthday party. Selene blew out the candles and sliced the cake. After everyone had eaten, she took care of the gifts. Aunt Meredith gave her the Book of Spells that Selene's mother used, she got a protective amulet from Elisabeth, a deck of tarot cards from Rita and Eleazar, Isabelle and Johnathan gave her runes, Alice, Tess and Teresa such small things as a cauldron, potions bottles, magic candles, incense, magic powders, etc. Maria and Deborah gave her a crystal ball. Selene thanked each one of them, and she

Marrying My Ex’s Billionaire Uncle.

Marrying My Ex’s Billionaire Uncle.

⸻ The package contained a single cedar box. Inside rested an old brass compass. Unlike Daniel’s compass, this one had no cardinal directions. Instead, four words surrounded its face. Memory. Truth. Mercy. Hope. As Amelia lifted it, the needle began to spin. Then it stopped. Pointing due north. Folded beneath the compass was a note written in elegant handwriting. The first journey preserved the truth. The second must discover its origin. Follow the compass when you are ready. —J.A. Amelia smiled. “Julian.”

Revenge of Flame Luna

Revenge of Flame Luna

Suddenly, the needle spun wildly. I froze. It whirled like a top before violently jerking to point straight ahead. “Sandra, stop,” I whispered. “What is it, Luna?” Sandra tensed immediately, clutching my baby. “This compass, there’s a Dark Sorcerer nearby,” I said, my voice tight. I sharpened my focus. The road ahead was completely empty; no shadows, no footsteps, not even a breeze. And yet, the compass kept pointing forward, trembling, as if something vast and terribly dark was standing right in front of us… unseen.

THE SLAVE WHO REJECTED THE ALPHA

THE SLAVE WHO REJECTED THE ALPHA

“Alpha wants proof this time. He said if we come back without a body, we can join her in the dirt.” Fear climbed up my throat. The woman looked at the compass again. “Give me that.” I backed away without meaning to. “No.” “Girl.” “No.” “If they find you with it, they will follow the trail it leaves.” “It does not leave a trail.” “It brought you to me, did it not?” I looked down at the compass. The needle had changed. It no longer pointed north. It pointed at the woman on the ground. My mouth went dry. The guards were closer now. I could hear the low growl under one of their voices, the sound of a wolf near the surface.

The Billionaire Alpha's Revenge

The Billionaire Alpha's Revenge

And Jack's compass was trembling with the aftershock of something it could not identify. He picked up the device. Pressed it against his palm. Closed his eyes. The compass was not pointing at anything. For the first time since the Hollowsmith had fused it from three cosmic artifacts, the needle was not indicating a direction, a person, a threat, or a hope. It was pointing inward. At itself.

Pregnant With The Ex-Husband's Twins

Pregnant With The Ex-Husband's Twins

It was the Compass—the final gift Grandpa Liam had left them before disappearing into the wild again. It was made of carved bone and black iron. Inside, floating in a vacuum, was a needle made of shimmering Violet Crystal. "It never points North," Nova spun the compass on her finger. "It just spins and spins. Like it’s confused." "Maybe it's broken," Ash strummed a chord on his guitar. "Or maybe it works like that pirate compass in the movies. It points to what you want most." "This isn't a movie prop, Ash," Alex adjusted his glasses, looking at the device analytically. "It contains a micro-gravity core. Dad said Liam forged it with dust from the original Meteorite. It reacts to electromagne

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

It wasn't pointing anywhere normal. It pointed directly toward the ocean. Toward the storm. Toward where the mysterious boat had vanished. The room went silent. Again. Then Peanut pointed. "The compass broken." Honestly? That sounded reasonable. Then Thomas slowly shook his head. "No." His voice was barely audible. "It isn't broken." The way he said it made Lily's stomach twist. Then another flash of lightning illuminated the room. And for a split second— the compass needle moved. By itself. Everyone saw it.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

The Wife Who Won

The Wife Who Won

"Everything happened so fast." "That’s because you finally stopped moving at Mark’s pace," Liv says. She pulls a small, wrapped box from her pocket, the one I’d seen her holding earlier, and slides it across the table. "Open it now. I want to see your face." I tear away the paper to find a small, high-quality brass compass in a leather case. Attached to it is a note in her messy handwriting: So you never lose your way back to yourself. "Liv, it's beautiful," I whisper, tracing the cold metal.
