Romans & histoires Broken Binding Book

In the end, I told myself it was wrong to be petty toward a grieving widow, so I was the one who gave in and apologized. Later, when Ryan wanted to put his ring back on, he couldn't find it anywhere. Luckily, I still had the original design sketches. Since my own ring was getting worn out, I decided to order a brand-new set, identical to the first. But before the rings even arrived, our bond had already shattered. I instinctively rubbed the faint pale mark where my ring used to sit. My old band was still sitting on that table back at the Pack House. "I don't want them. Even if they're brand new and identical, our bond is fractured. There's no going back."

It was like all her senses were focused on one thing. ‘Leofric.’ Mallory closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her heart clenched in pain as she remembered the book she read over and over again. Not wanting to forget any detail. Her rereading made her confident that she could recite the contents. But that’s not important. Mallory remembered the very crucial line in the book. ‘… To break the bond, one must do it at the time when the bond was formed.’ Mallory opened her eyes. Now, her heart was firm. She recited the last sentence. ‘One must deny the bond completely, and the other just needs to respond.’

The shelves had been scattered around and books were flying all around the small space. My left leg was stuck under one of the shelves and i had to manage and pull it off in an awkward position with just two of my hands until my leg was free and i could feel the enormous pain but that did not stop me from finding the book. I had been searching while struggling with a broken foot for a book that held the rest of my future, and when i finally found it, i was completely shattered. I did not want to cry, i could not, all along i told myself i was iron woman, made of steel and nothing would break me. Nothing could.

Barry pointed, voice shaking but clear. "It was him! He told my dad to go to Moonshade and demanded Sophia be the one to operate! Promised a massive payout—enough to set us up for life!" Jack roared, lunged. Three Enforcers slammed him to the ground. He writhed, claws skidding across the tile. I stepped forward, calm. "Jack, was your ego that bruised after I broke the mate bond? Had to buy someone to frame me?" I wanted a crack—him or Alice.

Was it because I leaned into him, waiting for his lips to touch mine? The thought gnawed at me and the silence in the library only made it worse. I dropped the book I was holding, brushing the dust from my hands. “You’re overthinking again,” I muttered under my breath but it didn’t help. The ache in my chest stayed. If Zack didn’t want to talk, fine. I’d focus on what I came here for. My eyes went back to the book we’d found earlier, the one that confirmed what the witch had said: the bearer of three bonds can break two and keep one or accept all three and bear the weight of their souls.

Zaviers hand went to his shoulder right when he went to stand up. I quickly turned around and power walked to the book because I could feel the need radiating off of him. Blake was looking at me with a soft smile that had me smiling more. I quickly looked throught the pages until I stopped on the page that read. 'Broken souls.' I wouldve been confused if I hadnt passed soul breaker a few pages back. I rubbed my hand over the page and watched as a gold ribbon slowly came out of the book. The ribbon twirled around Blake in a graceful manner. The ribbon slowly attacted itself to his body. "I cant move." Blakes panicked tone had me praying that this was right.

I start, but the words die on my tongue as he disappears between the shelves. I sit there, stunned. My fingers still hover where the book had rested. What just happened? I am so close to uncovering a way to break the mate bond and it just slips out of my grasp just like that. At midnight, back in my room, I find the same black volume placed neatly on my desk. It’s the exact book I had been reading earlier in the restricted section. I flip through it and immediately notice that several pages are missing. The sections that have been ripped out are the ones I had been focused on. The chapter on cleansing rituals is gone, along with the information about breaking mate bonds.

“Moonstone may anchor concealment magic when bound through blood. Such seals weaken as the hidden power matures and may fracture under emotional or physical strain.” My pulse quickened. “Does it say what happens when it fractures?” Chrissy turned the page. The next two sheets had been torn out. “Of course,” she muttered. “Because books enjoy being dramatic.” I leaned closer to examine the damaged binding. The moonstone slipped free of my collar and settled against the front of my sweater. A shadow fell across the table. “What exactly are you two researching?” Professor Mansfield stood behind us, one hand resting on the back of an empty chair. Her gaze moved from the damaged book to Chrissy’s

The sound of the rip echoed through the corridor, and we both lost our balance and fell down, staring down at the book stretched between us, or rather, the two halves of it. The leather binding had split clean, the pages ragged and fluttering, and even though my half still pulsed faintly with that strange glow, Serenya's half sat dark and heavy in her grip. For a moment, neither of us spoke. My chest rose and fell asleep I breathed heavily with shock and effort, like I'd just run a marathon.

Because suddenly every move made sense in the worst possible order. The binding. The timing. The selection. The manipulation. I swallowed hard and leaned forward, elbows on my knees now because sitting upright suddenly felt impossible. “My wolf,” I murmured. Raven stepped slightly closer, “What about it.” I looked up at him finally. “When the binding broke,” I said, “that was not normal.” Raven’s expression shifted slightly but he stayed calm, “No, it was not.” “It felt old,” I admitted quietly, “older than me.”
