Sometimes, it is you hurting inside without having enough words to speak outside. All just because everything hurts inside. It was not merry. It was nothing too far, too close. But I just wanted to get away. I was not heartbroken. At least not yet, but I could not say the same for the man I was staring at. The same man I had been staring at for two minutes, which had felt like the first two hours of my first life.

Every detail placed exactly where it needed to be, like I was stitching a wound only I could see. He clutched his head in both hands, rocking forward like the weight of it all might crush him where he sat. His sobs tore through the room, raw and unguarded. He kept saying it was his fault, that he should’ve saved her, that he’d failed. But heartbreak doesn’t last forever. I knew that better than anyone. Soon, he would look at me and see more than the shadow of her. Soon, I’d be the only one left standing beside him, the only one who could quiet that storm in his chest.

I stand up and walk slowly to him, I hold his hand again, resting my forehead on his back feeling his breathing, “pain doesn't define us Justin, it makes us stronger” He turns to me, his eyes dim, glossy with tears, “who broke us?” he says softly, touching my face softly. His touch was raw, deep, painful, he didn't move, he just stared at me with a sad face…I could feel it. “I have been broken a long time ago, I always say my heart doesn't even beat anymore that's how damaged I am” I chuckle wryly, “there's no point in having a heart right? Cara thinks I'm heartless, my mother thinks I lack compassion and you…you think I'm just…stock up”

The pain was overwhelming, a crushing weight that threatened to consume me. I felt empty, and hollow, like a part of me had been ripped away. Every breath I took felt like a struggle, every beat of my heart a reminder that the person I love would never love me back. My heart was broken, extremely broken, and I didn't know how to put it back together again. All I could do was hold on to the fragments, and hope that someday, somehow, I would find a way to heal.

'You need a wholesome Luna, not one that is as broken I am', I told him gently. 'What good is a wholesome Luna if my heart remains elsewhere?' he asked, his heart in his eyes.
