Bound by Blood and Betrayal
The blade caught the pale light, gleaming silver and deadly.
Paige gasped, jerking back slightly. “Raymond…”
“Trust me,” I said, my voice low but steady.
I turned the blade toward myself and, without flinching, sliced across my palm. Blood welled instantly, dark and rich. The metallic scent filled the clearing, mingling with the lingering smoke.
She stared at me, wide-eyed. “What are you doing?”
I extended my bleeding hand toward her. “Giving you proof.”
When she didn’t move, I took her wrist gently and lifted her hand. “Your blood carries power,” I murmured. “Mine carries lineage. If I ever betray you, let this act bind me to death.”
