Claire sat on her bed as she brushed her hair. When she was younger, her mother would brush her hair with a hundred strokes every night saying that it will make it healthier. Since then, it became her habit to do so—except for counting up to one hundred. Once she was satisfied, she stood up to place her hairbrush on her bedside table and switch off the lights. Then, she positioned herself under her comforter and closed her eyes. However, the moment she did so, her phone rang loudly.

I didn't quite expect her to be that blunt. "Try being poisoned with wolfsbane". I say with a smile. She gives me a tiny smile in return and reaches for the hairbrush in my hand. "Here. Let me help you with that". "Thank you". I whisper. She heaps a good portion of moisturizer on my hair and begins to detangle, tsking in dissatisfaction as the brush snags in the tangles here and there. "That's one messy bunch". But she must be experienced with hair because in less than 4 minutes, my hair is combed and falling down my back in thick, dark waves.

“Mhmm! I want the same as Yoshi!” “From the cartoon? I told you Yoshi isn’t real.” “He is!” “Then how about my hair?” Jack piped in, twirling his strands around his fingers. “I can’t even see through these things.” “Sure, you can’t.” She rolled her eyes, “You too Jack. C’mon.” She clutched his shirt in her hands, tugging him along as she began to head for the room. “I’ll give you both the ‘Yoshi’ cut.”

She shrugged, "My friends are always around me." She watched as he stood coming towards her, her mind was doing a 360 degrees race, she was sure he could hear her heartbeat. "I can help," he offered, picking up her hairbrush from the dressing table. She began to protest but when he brushed the first stroke of her hair, she moaned quietly. He brushed her hair firmly using his fingers to knead through her hair tugging at every tangle in her hair. She almost cried when he finished brushing the hair and pulled it into a bun. She was missing the feeling of his hands roaming across her hair.

As she does, I am transformed in front of my eyes. I watch how she is drying my hair, “Where can I get one of those brushes?” I ask her. I want to be able to do this for myself.

Trisha relaxed into his touch and he used a huge paddled brush on her head. "Where did that even come from?" she mumbled. The bristles swished through her hair giving her scalp a massage. Trisha made a decision that she was going to get one of those brushes, especially considering all she'd already done for these people. "And where can I get one of those?" A ghost of a smile crossed Nakuni's lips. "You like it? I'm always prepared no matter what." He finished brushing her hair, Trisha was to the point she was leaning against him with each stroke.

“The brush keeps getting stuck.” “That’s because he puts product in it to make it stand up. It makes it sticky and stiff and hard to brush,” Thea said. “But I think it looks really good.” “You’re right, Luna,” Ophelia said. “It looks good.” “Alpha Alaric’s hair is too short to brush,” Cassandra said. “Mmm,” Thea said. “But run your hand along the sides where it’s very short. Doesn’t that feel funny?” Cassandra ran her hand over the side of Alaric’s head and laughed. “That tickles.”

she requested. I ran my fingers through her hair, frowning when I had to work my way through a few tangles. “Did you remember to brush your hair this morning, sweetheart?” I asked. She groaned. “I don’t like brushing my hair.” “I know, but you need to.” She reached up to play with my hair. “Can I just shave half of my hair like you do?” I laughed as I shook my head. “I still have to brush my hair everyday. When I was growing up, Mr. Rip would brush my hair for me every morning before school until I remembered to do it myself.”

When Kat turns off the water and wraps herself in the towels, she grabs the toothbrush and toothpaste, and enjoys the freshness she feels in her mouth. Luna smiles and tells her to sit down. Picking up the brush, she untangles her hair and blow-dries it, then pulls it back into a neat ponytail.
