Damon stood instantly. A silver pulse burst from her hand into my chest—cool, clean, searing through the fog in my mind. “I’m not afraid,” I whispered. “Don’t lie,” she said gently. “Be afraid. But fight anyway.” Then she began to fade, the silver tether pulling back into the void. I reached for her. “When will I see you again?” “When the second moon bleeds,” she said. “And you dream in fire.” Then she was gone. --- I woke gasping. Caspian was already there, eyes wide, hands steady on my shoulders. “You went under again,” he said. “You weren’t breathing.”

Then, the moon did the rest. My sister Selene went first. She didn’t even flinch as the markings lit up. Silver light cracked along her skin, spiraling from her throat to her fingertips. Her eyes flashed gold. Then bones broke. Her clothing tore and then, Selene was gone. In her place stood a towering black wolf with silver stripes down her spine, snarling into the night and the entire crowd howled in approval. Now, it was my turn. The air grew colder. My pulse hammered. As the elder’s blade touched my skin, I expected pain.

It gave me goosebumps all over and had Dane basically purring. The emotions in that song vibrated through me still even though she wasn’t singing anymore. All the hair on my body was still standing straight up.

I dropped my gaze instantly and asked before chewing onto my lips, "Anything else I can get you, s-sir?" "No, sweetheart." He darkly chuckled. Just as I was about to walk off this uncomfortable scene, I felt a burn on my skin. The moonlight had escaped the drapes of the clouds finally and it was lighting up the terrace with its own enigma. But why burn? Isn't the moon an epitome of cool and calm? I shrieked when I realised the burn that was flaming on my skin was actually, under my skin. With a clatter, the champagne glasses on the tray shattered on the floor. Luckily, the sound of music drowned it out but didn't stop the fact it poured all down the back of someone.

He pushed his chair back slightly and readied himself to hop up if smart mouth said one more thing. Bree played another song, “Under the Moon,” another one of her more popular songs. When she was done, she said, “I’ve got one more song for you, and then--” Before she could finish the sentence, likely something like, “and then my time will be up,” the smartass screamed, “Then you’ll show us your tits?”
