In their homeworld of Triton, they lived in islets surrounded by a vast dark blue ocean that were occasionally disturbed by the storm that came from the grey cloudy skies. Here, however, was a desert that changes color depending on where the sun would stop at a given time. In the horizon, it would be purple. If the sun was at zenith point, it was light tan but when the sun sets and paved way for the moon to shine, it was green. The Solar ADF had grown on calling it 'Neon Desert', for some reason.

Bright green, yellow, faded brown and all bunch of colours made up the vegetation. "Woah" she gazed at everything in awe. Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful. The scenery was picture worthy. Vast untamed nature, all around her. She looked back to Carl "This forest... It leads to Lake Creek? I'm surprised there is a cleared path to drive-" she was thrown back into her seat as the car came to an abrupt stop. "Oof! A warning would have been nice" she mumbled under her breath as her hands went to grab her hair out of her eyes. She heard a door slam and her eyes shot open. Carl got out, pulled her bag out of the trunk and yanked her door open

The high desert of Oregon wasn't a place, it was an atmosphere. A vast, silent exhale of sagebrush, juniper, and sky the color of a faded bruise. County Road 42 was a scratch in the earth, flanked by barbed wire and cattle guards. The Rockhound's Claim was less a store and more of a settlement: a leaning clapboard building, a scatter of rusted mining equipment, and a half-dozen aluminum trailers baking under the relentless sun. A hand-painted sign, blistered by UV, read: "Gems. Supplies. Truth."

Harvey said, “to receive far-flung flights like yours.” Hansen looked up at the high walled walls and thought that given the location of the "complex," as that man put it, in the middle of nowhere, it was more than such exaggerated protection, with armed men and all that. He did not think it possible that someone would want to risk getting lost or dying in that desert just to get to that place, unless it was by air, as they had done. “Where are we?” Karen asked. “In Texas, near the Mexican border,” Harvey replied. “This is the Chihuahuan Desert, the largest one in North America.”

That afternoon, Jasper drove me in his modified off-road vehicle to a private shooting range deep in the desert. The car blasted deafening heavy metal. He steered with one hand, a cigarillo held in the other, tapping a rhythm against the window frame. "See that?" he said, pointing to a cluster of wind-eroded rock formations in the distance. "Looks like the gates of hell, doesn't it? The Mexicans call it the 'Devil's Spine.'" I looked over. The red rocks seemed to twist in the heat, like countless souls in torment.

We drive for days, leaving the misty redwoods of Santa Crus and heading into the dry, dusty deserts of Nevada. Pale scrub brush the color of my straw blonde hair stretches out in all directions, waving in the desert wind. Then we hit the cliffs and canyons of Idaho, spending one night in Twin Falls, where we fall asleep to the heavy roar of the waterfall just outside our cabin room.

The roof began to shred, and the room shook, moving the foundation and making everyone hold on. Doc, ever vigilant, stayed with Phoenix and when he said, “Last one Luna, give it all you’ve got!” she grunted and the world paused when this tiny titan came into the world announcing her arrival with lungs that rivaled any Alpha wolf’s howl. The weather miraculously stopped, the sun came out and all was calm as if nothing ever happened. Both Gael and Phoenix heard the Goddess in their mind saying to them, ‘Congratulations Gael and Phoenix, It is my pleasure to introduce you to…..Serene. She will always be the calm in your storm.’

After a delightful lunch, Alexander led her to a car waiting for them. In twenty minutes they drove over to the iconic Sonoran Desert where they embarked on a guided tour in a 4-person ATV that Alexander had booked only for themselves. Accompanied by a guide, they traveled through giant Saguaro cacti, and deep canyons carved by flash-flooding rains while learning about the plant life, wildlife, and stories of the Native Americans who lived there. With Alexander’s arm behind her seat, cocooning her, Eva was lost in the experience of a lifetime! She could spend a lifetime in his company if only he would allow her!

They put our bags in the boot and we all climbed into the car where thank God the air con was on. Scarlet climbed in the front.
