Caged Game 소설 & 이야기

Seeing it lifted the gloom from me. Jonathan bought it, saying pets heal the heart; when I felt down, I should hold it and let it warm me. Of course, if it warmed me, I must care for it properly—plump it up, keep its fur glossy. So I bought cat food, a bed, cans of pâté—an entire haul. On the way home, the sky opened. A gray stray cowered under an awning, soaking wet. The shopkeeper kicked it away, and the cat slunk out into the downpour to seek shelter. I thought of myself—an orphan, drifting, always without a home, always looked down on.

Her eyes landed on a stack of metal buckets and an assortment of gardening tools, including a small shovel and a rake. Grabbing the shovel and rake, Ameera turned to Sarah. "We can use these. Let's create some noise and throw the buckets to lead the dogs away from the fence." Sarah nodded, her determination matching Ameera's. They positioned themselves strategically near the fence, ready to execute their plan. With a deep breath, Ameera began to bang the shovel against the metal buckets, producing a loud, clanging noise that reverberated through the night. The guard dogs, trained to respond to disturbances, immediately perked up their ears. Their growls intensified as they zeroed in on the s

I am seriously regretting this game I started. There is nothing I can do tonight, so I slowly rise from the hard floor and dust myself off. I eat a light dinner and make a cup of hot tea. Next, I head upstairs to take a long bath. I begin filling the clawtooth tub with warm water and add in some of my favorite rose bath oils before lighting candles around the room. This is my sanctuary and exactly what I need right now. I lean my head back and breathe in the rose and amber from the candles as Frank Sinatra’s smooth melodic voice fills the room. I was just about to drift off to sleep when suddenly I felt a shift in the atmosphere. Power, raw angry power was headed my way. I see no point in ge

Then I turned around and left, leaving the little devil behind in her new cage. A. She nodded slightly before peering deeper into the store. " There's an arcade game at that corner over there. Want to play?" " Uh... Sure. " " You have a penny?" " A few coins." We walked over to the arcade and she slotted a coin into it and soon the arcade popped to the life. It was just a regular game, nothing fancy, but she looked good at it. " You know how to play?" I asked.

Stacy said from the doorway, “I’ll warn you now, it wasn’t designed for this but it should work.” Kyle and Dominic followed Stacy down into the basement, past the old wine cellar and into a secondary room, Stacy flicked the switch and the bright florescent lights crackled into life, the room looked like a war room, there were a few old wood desks, and even a central table with all of Westingdale on it in miniature models, but what caught Dominic’s eyes was the wall to wall cage at the back of the room, it was new, the steel was still shiny and the room still had a scent of welding flux. “Stacy, care to explain the giant cage in the basement?”

"You see this power grid? In the real world, it's guarded by automated turrets, fifty feet of electrified fencing, and a Blackwatch garrison." Ren swiped his hand again. The real-world map dissolved, replaced by a location in the game—a massive, floating fantasy fortress surrounded by a moat of lava. "But here, in the game... that exact same power grid is coded as the Fire Drake's Citadel." Murmurs of realization rippled through the ghost army. "The Cipher," Jax whispered, standing beside Ren. The glitch-kid’s eyes were wide with awe under his hood. "If we break the toy... the real machine stops working."

Guess nowhere was cheaper. Normally, the starters sat together, but I didn’t want to leave Arth, the newbie, with strangers. I moved to sit beside him. Denver, scowling, stood up and wedged himself between us. “You, move to the other side.” “……What’s your problem?” “Let’s play a game.” “What game?” “Who can drink the most.” “You serious?” “Yeah.” “No regrets. What’s the bet if you lose?” “Loser does whatever the winner wants.”

Aria The basement of the rundown safehouse on the edge of the industrial district smelled of damp concrete, old iron, and dust. It was perfect. No cameras, no biometric grids, and completely off the Thorne and Vance maps. I had spent the last forty-eight hours setting it up, anchoring a heavy steel chair to the floorboards and checking the strength of the reinforced leather restraints. Tomorrow was Malakai’s wedding day. Every billboard in the upper city was flashing the news of the rushed Thorne-Vance corporate marriage. Victoria Vance thought she had finally cornered the devil. She thought she was going to walk down the aisle, sign the asset merger, and bleed Malakai’s empire dry.

Elara stood frozen in the chamber of bones, her silver eyes locked on the figure before her. The chamber was vast and cold, its walls lined with the skeletal remains of wolves and other creatures she could not identify. The floor was stained with dark, ancient blood that had seeped into the stone over centuries. The air was thick and heavy, carrying the scent of decay and dark magic. Torches flickered on the walls, casting dancing shadows that seemed to move of their own accord.
