Cain was at the chamber door, covering the entrance the way he had covered every entrance since a barn in the first weeks of all this. The lamp had been lit at dusk. The fourth moon rose at the appointed hour. And the chamber door, which Cain was standing beside, opened from the outside.

While I was walking back to my dorm, feeling like my head was spinning, things were much colder at the Calloway townhouse. He wrapped his hand around the handle and yanked on it but the door seemed to be locked. He stepped back a few feet, turned around towards the officers and tilted his head towards the door. One of the officers immediately began to run towards the door with speed, and with one powerful swing of his leg, the door flew open.
