“Your reputation to keep,” I cut in, my voice sharp and bitter. “I get it. So do I, Kevin.”
Before he could respond, a car horn honked nearby. A sleek black car pulled up, and a woman stepped out, all polished professionalism.
“Good evening, Ms Maynard,” she said smoothly. “Mr Fisher assigned me to be your driver. Unfortunately, Lucas can’t give you a ride today. I’m Betty.”
I sighed, rubbing my temple. “Why… what happened to Lucas?”
