Reluctantly, I made my way to the infirmary. The building was quiet, and as I entered through the clear doors, a guard directed me to the third floor, where the on-call doctor worked. I found myself walking through a corridor filled with dark, empty offices. Knocking on the door labeled “Night Doctor,” a soft voice told me to come in. Behind the desk sat a woman, probably just a few years older than me, with sandy curly hair and a freckled nose. She stood and gave me a slight bow. “Hello, Luna, how can I help you?”

Jackson mind-linked to me. “I love you too,” I replied, wiping away my tears. We were ready for the second part of the ceremony. Elder Johanna was leading the ritual. She approached us, placed her hand over our joined hands, prayed to Selene, and nodded to Jackson. “I, Jackson, Alpha of the Silver Moon pack, declare you, my mate Loreen Liira of the Silver Moon pack, our Luna—the Luna who will stand beside me to lead and protect our pack,” Jackson proclaimed. “I, Loreen Liira, born of the Lunar Eclipse pack and now a member of the Silver Moon pack, accept the title of Luna to Alpha Jackson and to our Silver Moon pack,” I said, locking eyes with him.

I could tell with one hundred percent certainty none of these women were that way. My father’s right hand man and Beta, a man named Cooper, had pulled me aside one day to tell me about a potential opportunity to find a mate. I had been invited to join the cast of some show called Luna’s Choice. At first, I brushed it aside. I wanted no part in something like that. That’s adorable.” My fists clenched. “You don’t even know her.” She rolled her eyes. “I don’t have to. What matters is that you’ve made yourself look like a joke. Demon at least knows how to lead. People follow power, not fairy tales.” “She’s not a fairy tale,” I snapped. “She’s real. Ava is real.” “Yeah? And what are you gonna do when the rest of the pack finds out she’s human?” Catherine laughed, sharp and cruel. “You think they’re gonna bow to her? Call her Luna?”

He felt like cradling her in his own arms and caressing her with soothing words. There was a knock on the door. “Come in” The door swung open and a little lady walked in immediately startled by Brown’s presence. Rebekah bent her head and tried to wipe her eyes. “And you are…?” Brown asked, noticing the way she eyed him suspiciously. “Christy Norman, from the second floor.” “Okay, Christy. State your business” He just wasn’t comfortable with the way the lady looked at him. “Is she okay?” she asked, looking at Rebekah who was still sobbing quietly over her picture.
