Eva’s P.O.V. Sleigh bells ring and the all too familiar sounds of classic Christmas music pour in through my earbuds as I walked down the snow-crusted sidewalk. Closing my eyes, I hummed along to the tune of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing With lyrics written by Charles Wesley,.” Sad to say, this is probably as Christmassy as I'm going to get.

I looked at him coldly. "Leaving? The first thing you say when you wake up is to kick me out?" Noah raised his voice. His chest heaved violently, whether from anger or hurt, I couldn't tell. 3rd January, 1999(morning) The Warehouse Lana Its a never ending circle. A repeated sequence I experience everyday, locked up in this room with little or no contact. A hollow feeling in my heart whenever I think about my family, the grief I feel whenever I remember those who died in that bloody Christmas party.

I said and crossed my arms. " But I have a reflection." " Don't care." I snapped at him. He rolled his eyes and turned his gaze to the funfair. " Any plans for Christmas?" Aiden asked. Why is everybody asking that damn question? " Because it's Christmas and it's special for you guys." Aiden said. God I didn't say that out loud. " Special for me?" I asked. " Yeah, you're a Christian." " And you?" I asked. " I'm not."

Nothing bad was really going to happen. I reached the crossing and waited for the light to change. That was when I felt a slow, uncomfortable feeling in my chest. Like someone was watching me. I shifted slightly and glanced over my shoulder, two men stood behind me. They were dressed in black from head to toe. Black jackets, black trousers, black caps pulled low over their faces. At first, I didn’t think much of it because lots of people wore black. The light changed, and I crossed the road, they crossed too.

Lowering myself to her level, I held her shoulders gently and brushed a strand of hair from her face. “No,” I said softly. “No, honey. You just had a nightmare. That’s all.” She didn’t look convinced. “Mummy has no reason to hurt Daddy,” I added quickly. “I’ll be back soon. And guess what? We’re spending Christmas here with Grandma and Uncle Elliot.” Her face lit up instantly. “Yeah.” “I’m just going to get a few things for Christmas,” I said. “I’ll be back.” I turned away before she could ask anything else.

"And Christmas is coming up fast. But remember, wishes don't always come true exactly as we think they will. Sometimes they happen in ways we don't expect." Malaya nodded thoughtfully, then closed her eyes as Laila clasped her hands gently. "Ready to pray?" "Mhm." "Dear Lord," Malaya whispered solemnly, "please bless Mommy and my grandparents and family. Please let me get all the toys on my Christmas list… and please let me get my Christmas wish. Amen." Laila chuckled softly. "Care to tell me what your Christmas wish is, nugget?" Malaya's shoulders curled inward. "I… I don't want you to be mad at me."
