However, as I turned to leave, Louis took my hand and said, "No matter what your mom says, I'll only believe what I see. "Our wedding will go ahead as planned. Don't you dare think about leaving me." My eyes stung with unexpected tears. This was the first time anyone had chosen to believe me despite my mother's words. … After the disastrous Christmas dinner, Louis noticed my lingering gloom and suggested that we go on a road trip for a few days. We chose to go to a nearby small town. The festive atmosphere here felt much richer. The food was also wonderfully fresh. Louis and I had a great time.

She looked at it. Ryder. One message. “How was it?” She typed back. “A student’s grandmother told a story every year at Christmas. The same story. Same words. She asked why. The grandmother said — if I stop telling it, it stops being true.” She pressed send. Stood in the corridor. His reply came in forty seconds. “That’s the whole thing.” She held her phone. “I know,” she typed. “Same building,” he sent. “Same building,” she replied.

I've been ignoring him, but his persistence is becoming problematic. I deleted the message without reading it. The Christmas gala is in two days. The annual event where the city's elite gather to see and be seen, to make deals and alliances over champagne and caviar. I'll need to bring Ava, show her off as my devoted wife, maintain the illusion that everything is fine. She'll smile and play her part because she has no choice. Because I've made sure she has nowhere else to go and no one else to turn to. And I'll stand beside her, touching her waist, playing the role of perfect husband, hating myself a little more with every passing moment.

Snow Brook Valley Snowbrook Valley was alive in the way only small towns knew how to be during Christmas. Not loud, not overwhelming just familiar. Everyone saying Merry Christmas, children running around, throwing snowballs at each other and making snowmen. Every coffee shop in town was overcrowded, and the fish market was packed. The town had a special meal they made with fresh fish and spicy soup. Brandon was exhausted and needed to rest and today was the town's Christmas nativity night. He would be attending because he just wanted to stay far away from Claudia. Their fights were becoming too much and it was exhausting.

Her little fingers traced circles on the cold glass. “Because he knocked on my window last year.” My entire skeleton froze. “What?” She nodded, hugging her reindeer tighter. “He asked me if I wanted a Christmas surprise. He said all I had to do was let him in.” “Tell me you didn’t.” “I didn’t… but he said he’d come back.” Oh, fantastic. Wonderful. Great. A cheerful holiday tradition of traumatizing children. I knelt down. “Ivy… you should’ve told someone.”

Molly This was going to be the best Christmas ever. Molly grinned as she pulled out her master key for the shop, slid it into the lock, and opened the door. The scents of pine and cinnamon filled her nose as the Christmas spirit washed over her. It was time to open up the shop for the day. Every day since Thanksgiving seemed to get better when she was in the store. Christmas Wishes was the best Christmas store in town and possibly in the entire United States. Molly would even guess it ranked in the top five best Christmas stores in the world. The only one that could possibly beat them might be a Christmas store in Alaska that was actually near the North Pole.

It all starts on the day of Christmas Eve, I wake up in the morning, and I prepare myself to clean up the house. This process takes a good two hours to clean the whole house. Then when the house is clean, that's when my family starts to come over. The time I share with my family is the time we talk about old stories that have happened to our lives throughout the year. Tamales are like a big tradition during Christmas; it's a long process to make tamales, so it's the best time for my mother and aunts to catch

Yep, that's right. The guys sat on the bottom of her bed and listened to the entire story like big children and I swear that the pair of them were almost sleeping their selves by the time I had finished and so was Nina.
