Something about the picture just didn't sit right with me. Just like Ma Levine had said, we finally reached the second floor where she had said my room would be. We walked down the long corridor, passing different doors before coming to one that looked to have been specially made differently from the rest. Or that it was a resting place for her kind. They finally entered another room, this one smaller than the others, but with high, vaulted ceilings, and natural light pouring in. This room had stark, stone floors, and in its center sat one remarkable piece of furniture: a throne. Mounted high up on a pedestal, at least fifteen feet high, sat the wooden throne, a chair which was extra wide, with arms that sloped upward, and a back that angled on a triangle, coming to a point in the middle. Beneath it, on its corners, sat two golden lions, designed to look as if they were holding up the chair.

Jarret led Dannie up into one of the buildings, to the top floor. She wasn’t sure what she’d expected from a demon lord’s apartment, but certainly not warm and homey. Decorated in whites and grays with wood and glass furniture, that screamed ‘I’m rich.’ Dannie started to relax until she saw the man in the corner. Tall, athletic, he too had that ‘I’m very wealthy’ look to him only it came along with a sense of arrogance.

Sunlight welcomes me, streaming in from the panoramic and skylight windows, bringing brightness to a very large and open room. The ceiling is high, and tall book shelves are placed on any available wall space, every spot filled with books, small and large, looking a combination of new and old. There are gold trimmings around the windows and large dark wooden doors just opposite of the long corridor across from us. Tables with tan colored lamps made of glass are set up throughout. The tile beneath my feet matches in cream color, and seems to shine as the light reflects off of it. It was gorgeous.

He opened the door to a large corner office. It wasn’t quite as large as Brayden’s but compared to Rebeka’s it was more than twice the size. He had a rustic looking book shelf directly to the left of the door. His desk to the left in front of a windowed wall. And there was a plant in the corner of the windowed walls as they met. On the right of the door was a chest of filing drawers that matched the rustic theme. In the center of the room was a very chic pale blue high back chair in front of a glass coffee table that held a cute tissue box container. Just beyond the table was an ornate white sofa with a blue window pane design and seemingly random accent pillows that fit the entire room very

A chandelier hung in the very center, suspended lower than the other six spaciously flanking the corners. The ample space was well furnished too. To the far end, right in front of a tall window that faced the door leading inside sat a broad solid oak desk and a tall wheeled chair behind it. To the other far corner, shelves stretched to the ceiling were lined with books as ancient as the office itself. Most times, Xaver hated that he had to walk a long distance from his desk to the shelf or the door every single time. Sometimes he wondered why they made the office so fucking big.

That Highland was an incredible place although simple. The structure of the place was in front of a corner, the outside was completely glazed and it was possible to see all the furniture inside, all in light beige and dark brown colors. The wooden door gave entrance to a clean place with a cozy smell. The dark wood on the floor gave an even more elegant look. It was as if we were really in a house, with the exception of the bar and some tables with red towels and wooden chairs that were located in the center and around the whole space.

There were several skyscrapers nearby, and I could see the tops of all of them. Finally I tore myself from the view and examined the rest of the room. Thick, plush, cream carpeting, a twelve-foot ceiling. On one side of the room was an accent wall, painted a dark maroon and decorated with a very high-end reproduction of Vermeer’s The Girl With the Pearl Earring. There was a waist-high pedestal beneath the painting that held a vase, which looked to be some kind of priceless work of art.

A kind, energetic, old lady. Jai and Darrion glanced at each other with curious look before walking to the counter. Aside from the furnitures, the walls are cream in color with a single, thick red line that looked like it was a relief design. The line’s position is in line with the average height of normal people sitting. So the line is around thirty centimetres from the surface of the tables. The flooring is not marble nor dirt, but it was a simple maroon colored tiles. The furnitures are made from wood and it was polished well, making it compliment the floor’s dark but shiny surface. They are of the classic simple design of a small kiosk.
