Councillor Blackwood rushes to his side, his eyes bloodshot with fright as he murmurs, “Are they gone?” As if the monsters were listening, a hissing voice booms from outside the closed door, “Da nobis per alba lupus aut mors omnibus,” the unseen monster sneers loud enough for all to here before the receding patter of footsteps disappear as quickly as they arrived, leaving us all motionless with fright. “What did that thing just say? Did anyone hear what it said?” Blackwood’s voice shakes.

Vampires, mermaids, demons, all came out of the darkness and surrounded us. "We’re gonna die!" Brooke screamed in despair and even I was desperate at that point. I knew he’d bring in other creatures, but that amount was scary. "Yes, you are gonna die. Just like the little boy there." Hades spoke with his voice overflowing with sarcasm and I took a deep breath before following the gaze to where he pointed.

Meanwhile, I felt like I was unraveling at the seams. “It’s just… weird stuff,” I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper. Tess perked up, her curiosity piqued. “Weird stuff like what? Ghosts? Demonic possession? How could I explain it without sounding insane? Creepy old women, shadowy figures in my room, Ethan being a psycho and being everywhere I turned… it all sounded ridiculous.
