Out of nowhere, a bone arrow sliced through the air and struck his chest with a sharp hiss. The arrow, upon contact with Jim's blood, glowed a sinister red. His face contorted in pain, and suddenly, his grip failed him as he plummeted from the sky. I dashed forward, my heart racing, and leaped to cover Jim with my body. The Haunts erupted into mocking laughter. "Jim, we've taken apart the bones of the mortal who wanted you dead and crafted them into these arrows. Take one more step and we'll pin you down in front of your own troops!"

He leaned forward in his seat. "Seeing how certain you are, the rumours of him having The Crimson Arrow must be true." He said and she stiffened. He smiled. The Crimson Arrow was one of the five hallowed weapons that could kill an immortal. She opened her mouth to call his bluff when something hit the house and the very ground shook. Despite herself, she grinned. "They're here!" She ran for the window, expecting to see her fellow Spiders or Aremin himself but there was an army outside their doors.

All I was able to notice was, we went up the mountain path Kent had suggested. Max stopped only when we reached pebbled grounds. He got up, balancing on his two hind legs, dropping me on my back in the process. This caused me to look up at the gray and black castle that stood before me. It had countless steeples and each of them had a red flag with a black wolf stitched within it. From the windows I could see, I saw designs of red and green glass with a candle dancing right in the center. It looked majestic. “Took you both a while.” Kent was already here, wearing yet another fur coat, giving me a devilish smile.

He was called Rem. As for the last two, I couldn’t stop the look of disgust that washed over my face. They were what their race called Ancient Ones. The red-haired one named Rakesh was nothing special, but his powers and abilities were waning, while the other… he was an interesting one. His name was Kayden, and he had Hunter blood, though was no longer a half-breed and was now a fully fleshed Ancient One.

“Loop the angle from the north corridor. Let’s see where that shadow goes.” Another flicker. A hooded figure with a face mask dragged a body — Crystal’s limp form — wrapped in a cloak. They moved too fast for a normal wolf. “That’s not one of ours,” I muttered. “Freeze that frame. Enhance.” My heart stopped.
