A man in a red cloak was standing near the exit, holding a silver crossbow. He wasn't looking at Zade. He was aiming straight at me. "Zade, move!" I screamed, pushing him as hard as I could. The bolt whistled through the air, but it didn't hit me. It hit Zade right in the chest.

He's already turning the crossbow over, already bored with this interaction. For a second the relaxed expression drains out of his face and what's under it looks a lot older than twenty. He tosses the crossbow at me, and I catch it against my chest. He drops the knife at my feet, which is somehow the most insulting part of the entire interaction. "Count the missing persons sometime," he says. "See if the number sits as wrong with you as it does with me."

Pulling the trigger, his body seemed to pause for the smallest moment before plunging to the ground. Thomas's gun went off, killing the other man with a gun. Gray Beard wasn't out in the open like the others, and I couldn't see him. He was the only one I wanted to kill. "Do you smell that?" Thomas whispered. Inhaling, I instantly smelled decay and rot. "Yeah. That's what that guy was talking about. There must be a group of biters coming." Assessing our surroundings, I couldn't see any of the dead yet. The only movement was the man with an arrow in his belly. He was trying to stand with the help of his friend.

“You need that. If anything happens, save yourself.” I hadn’t reached the living. A loud growl erupted, and a large brown wolf lunged at the human with a gun. Then Zack shifted, too, and bit another human on the leg and threw him against the wall. The man whined in pain, and then he picked up his extra gun on his thigh, but a shot was fired behind me, hitting the man directly in the chest. I looked over my shoulder. It was Shadow. “You’re welcome.” A backup arrived. Three men walked in. The man in his sunglasses in the center looked familiar, the same man in the photo, but older, in his black combat gear and baseball cup.

Then, several sharp arrows flew through the air, shooting through the legs of the group of people. In less than three seconds, a large group of people fell into a pool of blood. They did not die, but they had already lost the ability to move. Scorpio looked back and saw a strong man strolling over and saying with a smile, “Now you know the power of my crossbow. Haha.” It was Libra, the weapon master. He walked up to Scorpio and said to him, “You only focus on fighting and didn’t even care about Ms. Diaz. You almost failed the mission.”

He leveled his weapon that looked like a small crossbow had successfully mated with a larger assault rifle. The man pulled the trigger once and another bolt flew into the back of the writhing werewolf. The werewolf screamed in agony and the girl actually cheered. "Yeah! Karma's a bitch, ain't it!" she yelled in elation, pumping a fist in the air at her savior.

Giovani asks without turning around. I smile guiltily. My bow is already slung over my shoulder, and I've packed plenty of explosives for my arrows. Bullets are hard to come by these days, but I've practiced using a bow every day. Everyone stood at alert as they waited. The footsteps drew nearer and a figure emerged into the light. Everyone was stunned as the familiar figure stood facing them with a cocky smile and a cross bow in his hand. He balanced his crossbow on his shoulder and put his other hand in his pocket. “DANIEL?!!” They cried out simultaneously. “In the flesh and blood.” He winked.
