I whispered, my voice quivering. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Hyna said, her voice a soft whisper in my mind. "It is," I admitted, transfixed by my own reflection. After a few moments, the glowing stopped and I was back to my old self. The mirror reflected my normal appearance once again, as if nothing had happened. Suddenly, I was hit with a wave of pain in my abdomen. I screamed, and the mirror in front of me shattered, shards of glass flying in all directions. I felt disoriented, and I tried to reach out to Hyna, but there was no response.

The mirror towered before her, its surface swirling with an otherworldly energy. Taking a steadying breath, Amelia stepped forward, her reflection mirroring her movements in perfect synchronization. As she approached the mirror, the surface rippled like water, revealing scenes from her past, present, and possible futures. She then heard the sound of the mirror shattering and when she turned to look, the woman's hand gripped her neck and a black cloud from the crystal entered her.

The shattering of the mirrors did not bring silence; it brought a deafening, harmonic resonance that vibrated through the very marrow of Cattleya”s bones. Each shard of glass, suspended in the air by the force of the energy she had unleashed, began to rotate, spinning like a miniature, razor-edged turbine.

I wasn't going to break now. "Let the high elders bring out the Lunar Mirror," I declared, stepping toward the center of the pit, where a large, circular slab of obsidian stone was embedded into the floor. Old elder Silas exchanged a grave, solemn look with the other council members before nodding. He gestured to two cloaked shamans who stood at the back of the chamber. The last one… was Elara. Mira stepped forward, and the reflection moved with her. “You’re not me,” she said. The shattered mirror still lay in pieces across the floor, glinting like frozen tears. Adrian crouched, brushing his fingers across one shard. It flared briefly with blue light. “Careful!” Mira warned. He didn’t move. “It’s reacting to your presence.” “Yeah, because apparently I’m a walking Wi-Fi signal for curses!” The shard flickered again—this time showing an image.
