A deafening hiss echoed from the pit, carrying the stench of rotting meat and centuries of stagnant death. Then, the beast rose. It was a Titanoboa, a prehistoric nightmare that shouldn't have existed for sixty million years. It was eighty feet long, its girth thicker than a city bus. But it wasn't just a snake. The Void had resurrected and corrupted it. Its scales were decaying, revealing pulsing veins of liquid dark matter. Its eyes were dead, milky white. "Get the crystal, Elena," Killian’s voice dropped into the demonic, vibrating frequency of his Alpha form. He didn't take his eyes off the monstrous serpent. "I'll handle the worm."

The Adlet Crisis made international news with the Scald Crow and it's the crew at the center of it all. Not that any of the crew noticed. They were too busy trying to find the last few curators of the Codex Gigas, a book that possessed spells and instructions to create enhanced golems. Theria requested information from the museums that housed the book and the companion stone for it. Theria was about to open the file when the computer flashed, “Incoming transmission, Queen Elphame, accept the call?”

I can’t help but ask. I saw the guy named Noah blush. It was as if it was impossible for me not to know him. Is he famous or something? He smiled at me and focus the camera on me. “I’m Noah Elordi. I’m a model and a vlogger.” He introduces himself. My mouth formed “Oh”. I saw him scratching his head. He looks shocked that I didn’t know him. He must really be a famous one. Then Noah shifts his camera on himself. “That was unexpected. I need to do well on my job I guess.” He joked.

Deagan laughed, wiping the slobber off his face. “Misterio… Mist, for short.” Deagan eyed her strangely. “That’s very different, any reason?” Hazel asked and Aria smiled at the grey-eyed cuteness. “Misterios means Secrets in Spanish.” Deagan caught on easily while others remained in the dark, no one asked her to elaborate. “Well then Mist, come meet your uncle Aycin.” Aycin held his hands out and so he made his way down the table, receiving rubs and kisses. “Little attention lover, isn’t he?” Aria laughed at Deagan’s words.

She smiled and shook her head. “You have an unusual spirit animal, sister. I can sense how close he is to you. Soon, your enemies will wish they had killed you before you could grow so strong.” Clarissa blinked. The statement confused her. How would Centra know about her spirit animal or how close they were? If he was ‘unusual,’ what kind of an animal was he? The book's cover, ‘familiars and their partners’, came back to her. The word familiar had excited Mimi.

“How the hell are they hiding that many creatures, let alone containing their power?” “No clue,” Aubrey says. “But Eilonwy’s mistress thinks we need to reach out to the old hunting gods—Kanati and Huītzilōpōchtli. They might be able to track the Riding Hoods across America and Mexico.” “That’s genius,” Zak says, eyes lighting up. He turns to me and for the first time in days, there's real hope in his smile. “I’ll work with Eilonwy to contact them,” Aubrey says, already dialing. “Gonna grab Sandra too—Spanish isn’t the same as ancient Nahuatl, and we’re gonna need help translating if Huītzilōpōchtli answers.”

A wall was up and I was looking in from a small window on the outside. I haven't even realised it yet, but I have been crying. Wet streams are just flowing without question down my cheeks. The melanin with short pixie hair squealed in excitement. She obviously wanted me to like her. Unfortunately, she didn't interest me much. “My name is Annabelle King and I'm a fan of your model work, very elegant” The other said with a bowed head, she seemed kinda shy and quiet.
