Charli A cold chill ran through me as I willed my feet forward. Déjà vu bogged my steps, as each one sunk deeper into invisible quicksand. I couldn't survive a year with this Nox—no, with this Mr. Demetri. Somehow I had to revive my Nox.

His gray eyes returned back to mine filled with wrath and displeasure as they bore into mine. "Curiosity killed the cat." He says in a whisper his voice laced with the threat lingering around me in the form of his addictive scent and my feets itched to get away from him for the sake of my life, but only if I could.

What the heck? "Go down if you're ready to eat, you can do whatever you want but don't get in my way." As he reaches the door, he leans on it and stares directly into my eyes. "Always remember, curiosity kills the cat."

He never looked like this the last time I saw him. “ How long did you train?” The question slips through my mouth before I can stop it. “ You never seem to stop talking to do?” “ I am just curious.” “ Do you know what curiosity did?” He asks, his voice is low and it sounds dangerous. It's a clear sign that he doesn't want to be having this conservation but when have I ever listened or followed the signs? “ It killed the cat.” My voice is low. “ Exactly!” “ But I am not a cat,” I reply feeling offended.

Curiosity piqued, Lisa quickly found a hiding spot in the corner, eager to eavesdrop and uncover the truth. As she listened intently, her heart skipped a beat when she heard Catherine's voice, filled with a hint of malice. Catherine revealed that she was waiting for the perfect moment to get rid of someone, leaving Lisa's mind swirling with questions and concern. What could Catherine be planning? Who was she talking about?

Her eyes remained turned down and I smiled at her curiosity. "Are you interested in finding out firsthand?" I smirked and her eyes quickly snapped up at me. She shook her head and mouthed NO. I chuckle more and she grins at me. Our food was brought and our humor ended, replaced by hunger. The meal wasn't bad, I'd had better, but my company was a joy. Adria would glance at me and I could feel her eyes on me making me grin. Curiosity killed the cat, I recalled the old saying, of course, this cat I didn't want dead, but rather in my bed. We finished eating and I paid. We both headed outside and I walked beside Adria.

My breathe hitched at the short distance between us as I heard his majestic voice like a king of hell, " Curiosity kills the cat, Miss Young. Be careful. Do not enter where you shouldn't and do not step in where you shouldn't. A kitten can't escape from a demon's trap. Watch your way before you step in. Who knows, you might never get out of the hell." I listened to his deep meaningful words quietly as I felt blank headed for a moment. But I kept my face stern unfazed about his indirect warnings before giving him a reply that suddenly popped out from my head, " But the useless rat helped the lion to escape from the trap, wasn't it President?"

"Goodnight, Pudding." He hadn't answered. She'd heard him exhale through his nose—not a sigh, something closer to surrender. "You're really like a cat, you know that?" She'd looked up. "I'm not." "You curl up. Demand attention. Leave when you've had enough." "I don't demand—" He was looking at her with an expression she couldn't read. "Fine. Maybe a little." He'd turned back to his book. She'd gone back to her editing. Later, when he went into the room to sleep, he whispered a word:

Honestly the saying about curiosity killing a cat is kind of the perfect descriptor for me. Yet, I’m not going to push for answers. I know that if something was really important she’d tell me. “Alright, have fun or whatever,” I said, giving her a quick hug, smiling softly. “Thanks Katie Kat,” Cathy said, squeezing me a little, “see you tomorrow.” “Okay,” I said, a smile falling slightly knowing she wouldn’t be back tonight, but letting it go.
