“But I’m out of time,” the King gasped. His body convulsed, sudden and sharp. His silver eyes locked onto mine with frantic, desperate urgency. He reached up and pulled a heavy, blackened iron ring from his finger.
He pressed it into my palm.
“Take the crown, Elara,” he commanded, and his voice suddenly boomed with the last, absolute remnant of his royal authority. “Rule the Lycans. Break the curse.”
