{Isla’s POV} “I’m hungry.” Andrea announced loudly for all of us to hear. “Me too.” Daniel agreed with her and turned to Cayden. “What about you, man? You’re not hungry?” “I could eat a fox,” Cayden replied. “But from the way things are looking, I think it’s the fox that would be hunting me down.” “Let it go, man.” Daniel elbowed Cayden and he smiled. I couldn’t see his face but I knew he had smiled.

They would pass the message to Shea to get prepared. In no hurry at all, the stranger walked through the woods. He had a bag over one shoulder, hoodie pulled over his head. Marx watched the man, keeping his distance. "Coming out any time soon," as the man spoke, he shifted his position, the light breeze carrying his scent in Marx's direction. He stopped, waited. "Daniel." Marx knew the man as soon as his scent came to him. He sent out a message for his wolves to relax. "Still hiding out in the woods?" Daniel asked when Marx came to stand in front of him.

"Mr. Fox is--was a High Table member. He knows a lot of people, werewolves and humans." Carson responded in a tone that let me know I'd get no further information. Her emotions weren't ones of aggression or anger, just fierce protectiveness and a professionalism that most people could never accomplish.

The light was real, I’d seen it. Grabbing the handle, I rattled the door while pounding the flat of my hand against it. “Is anyone there? This is your neighbor, Dr. McKenna…” Still no response. Standing still, I opened my ears to listen. Maybe I could hear if someone was inside. It was so quiet… A twig snapped to the right of me and I turned to see a small fox. He blinked at me once, twice, his fire-bright eyes glaring my way with what looked like a small rodent caught between his teeth. Holding my breath, I watched it run towards the treeline.

His scent had grown almost imperceptible, leaving the fox to ponder what John truly was. I look at Amanda, neither of us willing to breathe as the creature–something shaped like a lion–paws and sniffs at the ground only feet from where we’re hidden.

My chest beat erratically but the air only hung above me, untouched. Suddenly, two large predatorial eyes jumped through the snow towards me. Mane was sleek silver, snow dusting its shimmering tendrils. My arrow angled towards the mongrel. Burning eyes glowed, staring back at me with a sneer. My hands trembled. Sweat broke on my forehead. I had heard of these special wolves. Bigger, faster, more ferocious than the average beast. Never had I come in direct contact, but I knew… it was more than I had bargained. Out here… alone.

Julien frowned. Zach nodded. "Yes. I asked President Madden. He saw the fox man twice, and from President Madden's description, the fox man is an expert hacker. However, Cayden Lowe doesn't have any experience in that field. Moreover, Cayden has been in the snowy mountains for a photo shoot and even caught a cold, while the fox man didn't. Thus, it's certain that Cayden is not the fox man. "President Flint, what should we do now?" Zach looked at the man.

Henry looked up and saw, ahead of them, Lord Daniel’s curricle drawn up outside Delmere House. Hammington himself, elegantly attired, descended and turned to give instructions to his groom, before strolling towards the steps leading up to the door. He was joined by Francis and Henry.
