I admitted, wincing at the memory of that explosive night. Dante let out a harsh laugh. “Oh, hell no. There is no way I’m trusting that guy. Not now, not ever. For all I know, he’s the one behind all this crap, playing some sick game with us.” His paranoia sent a chill through me, but I refused to let his ego cloud this.

Sharper. “Watch your mouth,” Dante said softly. Deadly. The man chuckled, but it wavered under Dante’s gaze. “Relax. Just a compliment.” Dante leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper. “One more word, and you won’t leave this club with teeth to drink through.” The man paled, muttered something unintelligible, and stumbled away. Dante sat back down as though nothing happened, his arm once again draping behind Amara. “Apologies,” he said smoothly, as if they’d just discussed the weather. “Rudeness irritates me.”

“Boys, you can relax for a while. The you go back on playing. Okay?” “Yes, hyung.” The boys chorused. Oh, they are really cuties! Then they turn to us. “Hello again, Iyah-noona! Hello, Ayla-noona! I’m Danny, the drummer and a cousin of JD-hyung. Nice to meet you.” Danny introduced himself to Ayla-unnie. “Hello, Danny. Nice to meet you.” unnie said. “And I like your necklace, very fashionable.” She commented. “Thank you, noona.” Danny said with a smile.

"That would be nice." "Yeah?" he asked, grinning now, too. He didn’t have a dimple, but his laugh lines were contagious. He seemed kind. "I'm Rihanna." "Danny.” He held out his hand. She shook it and quickly let it go. "What do you do, Danny?" They both moved up as the line got shorter. "I'm a contractor. Foreman of a team of really good men. We build things," he smiled with comical pride. She gave him the smile he wanted. "That's really cool." And here I was going to drink coffee at home.

I watch, delightedly, as he gets back on his feet and storms off into the room. "Danny 1, Adrian 0"

He didn't even try to dodge the falling debris. His lips shaped three words. Once, they meant everything. From him, they just made me sick. Nolan went down with the game, buried under the rubble. All that was left—bright red blood and a fallen wedding ring, stained with it. I looked down at my ring finger. I left the ring— and walked away. I restarted the game. Rebuilt it with new funding. Five years later, it launched. It blew up. One day, while playing, I spotted a glitch.

Soon this big, muscular, and scary looking guy came through the door. “We have a problem,” Danny announced.

Uytianco interjected, glaring at the two men. “We’re sorry, okay? Don’t talk as if you are not like us, Uytianco,” Mr. Ivanov teased. “Shut up, Ivanov,” Mr. Uytianco hissed. Gavin shook his head again as he watched the board of directors of the company who were also his father’s best of friends. His lips rose while watching them teasing each other as if they are still teenagers. They were even beaten by his friends who were also their children. He can already imagine what will happen to him and his friends when they grow old.

Again, I am accosted with images of his fingers playing with my folds delicately, and then striking my open core lightly, I shiver across his legs and shiver in the garage. “It seems none of these caught your attention, don’t be discouraged, there are more in the back.” I give him a hopeful smile, but what I am more hopeful about is the fact that he could be here and hopefully, he would blow off steam on my body. “Although, I don’t see him as someone who blows off his work just because a girl hovering around him went out with someone else.” Danny says as we walk into what I assume is the back. I roll my eyes, but it is true, I cannot ignore the fact that he takes his job seriously.

I cut in, my voice steadier than I felt, “what do you want?” He hesitated. That hesitation told me everything. “I heard things,” he said finally. My stomach dropped. “What things?” He looked uncomfortable now. “About Frank.” Of course. “What about him?” I asked. Danny’s gaze sharpened. “Is he playing you?” I stared at him, disbelief rushing in hot and fast. “Excuse me?” “He’s got a reputation,” Danny said, frustration creeping into his voice. “You know that. He doesn’t do anything serious. He doesn’t stick around.”
