The sheriff asked. Fred closed his eyes as he tried to recollect memories of the woman. He started giving descriptions of her and her dressing. "...with a stain of blood on the right side of the shirt." He concluded before slowly opening his eyes. "What?!" They all exclaimed. "Blood?" The Sheriff asked, confused. "Yeah, I think, I mean that is exactly what I saw, I am so sure." Fred said.

They both jump in fright. “Killian… I thought you were still recovering!” Xane yells. “3 long months in the burns unit and in a coma. I think I’m fully better.” I laugh. “Do something; You idiot!” Xane shouts to Alex. Alex pulls a knife out from his belt. “You really think that’s going to bother me?” I smile. I grab the knife from Alex before he can react. “The thing is… since you put me through so much torture I can’t feel anything no more. Pain, emotion, nothing!” I growl.

Pain exploded in my shoulder, white-hot and immediate. Fuck. I spun, saw the Russian who'd fired—one of Kozlov's men, panicked and desperate—and put two rounds in his chest before he could fire again. He dropped. I turned back to Isaac, my shoulder screaming in protest, blood already soaking through my jacket. "You're done," I said, my voice cold despite the pain. Isaac stared up at me, clutching his leg, his face twisted with rage and fear. "You think this is over?" he spat. "You think—"

She awakened it, the soldier inside me reigniting. “You could stop her,” Sariyah murmurs. “Before she burns everything she touches.” The image comes unbidden, Ember wreathed in fire so dark it devours the light, Orion at her side, smiling like the world deserves what’s coming. I flinch. “She’s changing,” I whisper. “I see it now. She enjoys it.”

That was when my grandma took me to therapy but I was quiet every session so I dropped it. “You can stay as long as you want. I'm sorry.” He pulls me for a hug and I hug him back. I guess a part of me is grateful to have him as a friend. We let go off each other and he wipes a tear i didn't even realise was there. The suppression mist was powerful, but the sheer, primal terror of dying like this, triggered something deep inside her. Deep within her marrow, the light began to fight back. It didn't burst outward in a brilliant shield, but a volatile, suffocating heat began to bleed through her skin. Before the light could fully ignite, a deafening mechanical roar shattered the twilight.
