Darkness Comprehended It Not Novels & Stories

Besides the thin cushion I was laying down on, there was nothing else I could see or feel around me. Fuck, this was so much harder than I expected. How the hell am I supposed to know what to do and where to go when I don’t even know where to move?! Being in pitch black darkness is awful. It’s even more terrifying thinking that I’m supposed to be able to see at least something because of my wolf eyes, but Goddess knows what kind of darkness I am in that even my eyes are unable to gauge anything around me. This was maddening. Shit, what was that?!

Darkness swallowed Lena whole. It was not the absence of light nor a void of colour—it was something deeper. A darkness that pulsed, that breathed. It wrapped around her like unseen tendrils, curling into her thoughts, whispering in a language she almost understood. She didn’t know if she was standing, falling, or floating. She only knew one thing. She was not alone. A presence lingered in the abyss with her. It was vast, endless—a force that stretched beyond the confines of reality.

ASHER Darkness. Advanced, crushing, unrelenting darkness. It was the kind that felt so unbearably heavy that it was almost enough to destroy me. The space was filled with it, and I couldn't see anything except a dim light seeping through the door crack. It took a moment for things to make sense. A door? A door to where? I didn’t know the answer but I was tempted to walk toward the door and open it. I resisted the urge for a moment and then decided to proceed forward.

Hoping words could accomplish what power never could. “I do not understand,” the First Dark finally said. Quieter now. Almost vulnerable. “I have existed since before time. Before thought. Before love. I only know silence. Know peace. Know the perfection of nothing. I cannot comprehend why noise is better. Why is chaos preferable? Why suffering is chosen over my mercy.” And I realised something. The First Dark was not evil. Was not cruel. It was lonely. It was the last piece of the original nothing, watching as everything it knew disappeared into existence. Into noise and light and painful consciousness.

When previously there was cold and darkness, darkness which had a possibility of light of finding something unknown now Blackness enveloped me. Pitch black. Cold, shuddering, chilling Black. It promised to swallow me. It did because I gave myself in. Nothing that I could do. Still, my thought rounded around the fact that; She didn’t come back.

What she was standing in was nothing like that. It was dark in the sense that it was not lit by any external source. It was not dark in the sense of absence. The darkness here had texture, had depth, had the specific quality of something that was full rather than empty, that contained rather than lacked. She moved her hands through it and felt it as a medium rather than a void, something she was moving through rather than standing in the absence of things. It responded to her.

I always knew darkness dwelled in her, I just never understood the depths of that darkness until now. It was cliched to think someone could bring light to a dark soul. It was idiotic to consider that light being strong enough to eradicate even a portion of that darkness. And it was downright stupid to believe that it would work out like some fucked up yin and yang concept as if a balance was achievable.

Alison’s POV Darkness wasn’t just the absence of light; it was an endless void. It felt like being submerged in a deep, inky ocean, weightless but suffocating. I had no sense of time, no idea if hours or days had passed. Sometimes, I thought I could hear faint echoes of voices, distorted like sounds traveling through water. They were fragments, disjointed and fleeting, but enough to make me desperate to respond. My mind screamed for my body to move, for my lips to part, but nothing happened. I was trapped in this abyss, locked within myself.
