Darkness Comprehended It Not Novels & Stories

Watching me fall. Not with love. But maybe. Maybe with something that was not nothing. Then darkness took me. And this time my wolf did not fight it.

I understood that much, distantly, the way you understand facts during an emergency without feeling the weight of them yet. But the deeper thing, the thing that had let him become the wolf at all, stayed dark and silent under my hands no matter how much warmth I poured into it. I could not reach it. I was not strong enough. †††††††††††††††††††††††††

“It's not like that. It's not something you can get rid of. It's part of me; it's my other half. It's who and what I am. Don’t you see, I am the darkness! To get rid of it would be to get rid of me. I'm no good for you. I will only cause you pain and suffering. I am the darkness! I'm the monster everyone's afraid of. I'm the beast in the dark that children have nightmares of. Smoke seeped from his body again, and a dark aura rose from his body like a shadow looming over her.

A violent, invisible pressure slammed into my chest, knocking the breath from my lungs. The floor beneath me didn't just break; it vanished. When my eyes snapped open, the stone walls and the smell of sulfur were gone. I was standing in a graveyard of stars. It was a realm of infinite, suffocating black, where the ground felt like solidified smoke beneath my boots.

She forced herself to grow, to feel, to understand her nature. Her eyes opened suddenly, she couldn't grasp anything. Even as they did, her blindness made her heart shatter to pieces again. There was only darkness, but not her blindness. It was something different, something bewitching. She flew in one movement, she stayed at the spot. The blindfold flew away from her teary face. Opening her blind beautiful blue eyes, the color of the undead colored the vast weight of her eyes, even when blind, the whole was nothing like anything a spirit has ever seen. Shadows overwhelmed her once more and she understood it was already nighttime.
