ISOLDE I knew I was awake before I understood why I couldn’t see. It wasn’t the kind of darkness that wraps around you and settles into something familiar, this one was emptiness, a blankness that pressed too close, too suffocating, yet somewhere within it I could see something faint, like light trying to break through a barrier. The realization came quietly but firmly; my eyes are closed. I tried to open them but I couldn't. I frowned, forcing the movement again, pushing harder this time, willing my body to respond, but my eyelids refused to lift as though something unseen was holding them down.

But I couldn’t. Everything went dark.

it was so hard for me to comprehend. I blacked out and had no clue on what awaits me.

I wish I’d see his end, but the darkness had already started to embrace me. Just like that, it all went pitch black.

CHAPTER 129 Darkness wasn’t the absence of light. It was the thing that existed behind the lights or where the lights couldn’t reach. With the weight of it, pressing down until the world blurred into nothing but cold. Ophelia floated in it, too tired to swim, too weak to care. Her body, somewhere far away, was a broken thing. Every beat of her heart felt borrowed. The silence cracked. And then a whisper. It brushed her ear like wind across desert sand.

“It’s over now.” Darkness rises like a tide, and I let it take me.

The Darkness pushed as I clenched my fist, closed my eyes, and began to hum, using the humming to block out the voice of the Darkness and focus my intention on blocking out the Darkness's ploy. The Darkness's voice, a persistent whisper, echoed in the depths of my mind. It promised it threatened, it persuaded, but I remained steadfast. I knew its true intentions, its insatiable hunger for power and souls. My twins were innocent, mere infants, and I would protect them at all costs.
