Unknown As Flameheart stood in the dimly lit room, shadows flickered ominously against the walls, swirling like dark tendrils. Outside, dark clouds began to gather, casting a heavy gloom over Sunshine City. The air crackled with an unsettling energy, and one by one, the people around him fell into a deep slumber, the weight of the impending storm claiming them as its own. Only Flameheart remained awake, his heart racing, sensing that something momentous was about to unfold.

ARES’ POV Darkness used to be peaceful. But not this time. This time, it was fire. Not the kind that burned skin, but the kind that scorched the soul. My insides twisted with a torment I couldn’t describe—like something ancient was crawling under my skin, trying to claw its way out, screaming to be free. Then—light. A gasping breath tore out of my lungs as my eyes flew open, my chest jerking like I’d been drowning and had finally breached the surface.

Handing it over to me, his eyes looked gloomy. “You won’t find comfort in these pages,” he said. “But you may just find what you are looking for.” I opened carefully, my fingers trembling and sweaty all of a sudden, the pages smelled old, worn out and ripped off at the edges. On the first page, written in red ink fading and peeling, were the words: “The Blood in Her Name.” “What is this?” I asked, the title multiplying my fears. “An account of wolves born with what we called... dark spirits.” He folded his hands across his chest as he spoke. “Wolves who walked two paths at once, light and darkness, peace and destruction.”

The tremor beneath their feet intensified, a low, thrumming pulse that sent shivers through the group. The dawn’s light cast long shadows over the abandoned warehouse, but the darkness that threatened to rise again was already stirring beneath the surface of the city. Zane clenched his fists, eyes scanning the horizon. “That’s not just residual energy. Something’s waking up. We have to move—now.” Craig grabbed the ancient talisman, feeling a strange warmth radiating from it. “The ritual we performed only delayed it. If we don’t find the source—the core—it’ll come back stronger. We need to find the Heart of Darkness.”

The roar of the storm, the screams, the cracking stone, it all obscured and died down in a distant noise. Zane trying and failing, Ceres doing her best and yet unable to shove the darkness, while Sheila’s bones could be corrupted any time from now and she could even emerge as something we would not be able to fight: all these happening in front of me left me rooted to where I was. My eyes, ears, mind and every sense were clouded from the black fog. However, this could not continue. Nobody was going to fight this battle for us. We had to. If Adrian managed to merge with the altar’s darkness, nothing would remain.
