Chapter One Hundred Twenty-seven [Heartbreaks] Ericka's head tilts skyward, gazing at God in heaven and touching her heart, where His spirit resides, as her heart soars and her tired mind becomes lighted upon hearing the voice of her lovely oldest daughter. Her five children have already failed to acknowledge her as their biological mother, and their father has disowned her as his former wife, so she lets out a big exhale to relieve all the heavy baggage that has been accumulated for so many years.

My father hangs his head in disappointment. “The goddess never came.” He says quietly. “Why!” I demand. Good has to triumph over evil. That is the order of things. That is how the world works. “Our Goddess blesses us with many things. A wolf bound to our souls, the ability to shift, strength, power, a mate, and free will. That will can be used for good or evil.” He explains. He hands me a slice of watermelon. “Take a bite.”

My father then paused as he looked at Jaxson for a moment, and then finally at me, before he says, “Your mother was very special, she had the blood of our Moon Goddess in her.” “What? Impossible.” Jaxson says in disbelief as he steps around to my side, and then adds, “It’s impossible.” “Is it?” My father asks him and the two of them lock eyes as if in a stare off. Getting to my feet I move between the two of them as I take in what my father is saying. I couldn’t help but at that moment blurt out, “I’m a freaking Goddess?” More as a question than a statement. “Half Goddess.” My father says correcting me.

“It went well. It turns out Sarah talked with the moon goddess. She says that she’s her daughter.” My father smiled, “Hum, that’s the feeling that I had. You have one special mate my son.” He added with a wink. I laughed at that, I loved my mate so much, the goddess’s daughter or not, it didn’t change anything to me. “Yeah. Sarah also said the goddess told her that she would come to her aid when the time comes.” I told my father. “That’s good, I guess we’re going to need it.” My father answered. Then he continued, “There’s been some development while you were gone.”

Snapping the book shut, I throw it away, walking away from the library. “Fenrir, this is the only way to contain her power. You are doing the right thing. She is too young to understand. There can only be one God of Hell, one Harbinger of Death.” A voice enters my head as I turn, looking for the source but find no-one. “Don’t listen to it Fenrir. It’s evil to suggest this for our daughter.” My beast argues as I blink, shaking my head with a groan. “You will be saving her from Fate.” My eyes snap up and I growl. Fate will not touch my pups. They are mine. Stalking towards the book, I pick it back up, reading it again and chanting the spell.

' The newspaper's headline screamed, [Silverbay tsunami claims thousands, leaves nearly a hundred children orphaned. I laid them out in front of Evelyn. "You're not my flesh and blood. My mind was pulling me in a million different directions and I did not know which way to turn, I woke up from four years of false reality and everything in me was drained. Maybe I did, but I just wanted to hear him say it, I guess if I hear him actually confess that it would be real not just a fabrication. He sighed again. "I am the son of the head of the OA. Mom's face went pale. She gripped the mic, her voice shaking. "Wh-What... what is this? Is this donor cadaver really my daughter, Charlotte?" She stared at Elayne, frozen in disbelief. Elayne took a shaky breath. "Yes. The cadaver in front of you... it's Charlotte." The mic slipped from Mom's hand, slamming to the floor with a sharp, earsplitting crack. People in the audience flinched, hands flying to their ears.

“Fine, be difficult for all I care. But now, before I take the body and we finally meet the true fate, let me tell you a couple of things about yourself.” Now, that instantly caught my attention. My head snapped in his direction and I instantly gasped, realizing the creature had gotten too close to me already. “You are the last daughter of the Moon,” it muttered so close to my ear, I could feel the cold breath. My body froze as I tried to ponder the words. What did the daughter of the Moon mean? I had never heard about such a thing, no one in my life had ever mentioned anything even briefly close to that. “Huh?” Was the only sound I could make, probably looking as stupid as I felt.
