The power within me was instantly drawn out, silver light spreading along my arm. "In the name of the Moon Goddess, I, Elena Morse, formally request severance of the mate bond with Alpha Damon Aldridge." Runes flickered across the stone. The invisible bond connecting us began to tremble and twist. "Elena, stop!" Damon's voice came from behind me, laced with a panic I'd never heard before. I didn't turn around. "It's too late." The instant the mate bond shattered, searing pain shot through my chest, but it was immediately followed by an unprecedented sense of relief. That suffocating feeling of being bound vanished completely.

He wanted to wipe the entire system. On the screen, a warning box popped up: ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DELETE ALL SELECTED FILES? Marcus paused. He let out a dry, hacking laugh that I could see in the way his shoulders shook. He didn't hesitate. He hit the 'Enter' key. A progress bar appeared: DELETING... 1%... 2%...

The letter finally came to an end. A single tear fell onto the paper, smudging the ink. Jessica came back to her senses and realized her face was already soaked with tears. Mom guided me inside carefully, speaking softly like she was afraid of scaring me, "Lola, look. We changed everything back. This is your room. It’s always been your room." I slowly looked around. Every object was familiar, yet none of it stirred anything inside me. During those three years at the academy, every preference I ever had was erased bit by bit as "emotional residue": my favorite color, my comics, and my favorite snacks. All of it disappeared through endless punishment until I abandoned them myself. At dinner, the table was filled with dishes I used to love before I was fourteen: chicken wings, pineapple-glazed ribs, and baked mac and cheese.

It was neatly arranged in the bowl that sat on my computer desk. It was boring, but I scanned through old images to find the specific one, for his sake. "Found you." I beamed victorious as soon as I spotted the image. I scooped a spoonful of mixed fruit into my mouth, using a silver spoon. "Shit." I cussed, palming my face in my hand. I had accidentally hit the delete button rather than share it. "Ugh." I groaned, realizing I had to check my cloud for back up. Every image I had ever had was backed up to the cloud.

Kara's POV: Once he finishes cleaning up the mess--by himself, I start to draft a text to Jack, but frankly I have no clue what to say. Get the fuck out of my house, weirdo; What about "break up" don't you get?; or maybe the infamous read notification? That never works. I just have to deal with him in person... sadly. Shawn insisted on wiping up the lemonade himself, so that I wouldn't "ruin anything else". Jokes on him, I wouldn't have objected anyway.

One of them, a slim and tall man called Charles Finnson, sneered, "It's gonna be tough since it's been too long." "If Charles says it's not doable, then it probably isn't. But this message might still be accessible." Another short and thin man pointed at a cluster of data code on the computer. "This must be the one that was deleted! The person who sent you the message was prepared. This wasn't a message deleted by hacking into your phone system but was set to automatically delete after being read." Even though Suzy was aware Sophia had made preparations, hearing this still sent chills down her spine.
