Damien paced restlessly around his room angry and frustrated. He had a bad temper which was almost impossible to subdue whenever triggered because of his wolf nature, apparently and also because he was Alpha. The rage, lust and anger that came with it was sometimes uncontrollable. That rage was taking its toll now on Damien with the thought of his parents’ murders constantly. He kept walking around from left to right and back around his room critically thinking of how to capture the Rogues’ Alpha.

Slayers like Mom and Dad do not wear everyday garments because rushing into battle can induce brocade to tear. Instead, the material should be stretchable enough to endure a demon slayer’s swift moves. When my grand teacher, my mother’s teacher, was alive, he had identified me as a future Slayer. On the other hand, he had looked into my future and revealed that I had a rough destiny, possibly even harsher than my mother’s. Every demon-slayer had a destined one and a war partner. If I could find my partner, then I might avoid any possible misfortune.

I motioned for my poison tester to test the foods before I ate my meal. Each demon was drawn to their own preferred sin, mine was lust. It was like a drug to me, the promise of something sweeter and more delicious, like the promise of sex. I craved it more than any other sin. My father was drawn to wrath. He swore the spicy flavours exploded on his palette; he would choose it over any other. A demon's taste in sin explained a lot about their personality. My father was a force to be reckoned with. He was someone you did not betray, and he was known for the brutal punishment of anyone that had betrayed him.

His voice and aura went serious. “Don’t listen to him,” Shaira’s voice hushed through my ears. Now I wonder what she is up to. “How did you know?” I asked him trying to ignore Shaira that’s getting visible to me again. She’s behind this guy, Zeke. Shaira pushed him away and I tried stopping her. He looked so confused about what’s happening now so I turn my back to run away again. Run away from people and everyone. I can’t be with normal people or else I do something else again. I am a demon, a murderer and a human being that shouldn’t be born on the first place.
