Easton pressed something on the tablet and an image appeared on the screen—a drawing of a black, horned creature with burning eyes and a twisted jaw. It didn't look like it was taken out of a fantasy illustration. “Many of you grew up hearing stories about demons,” he said. “Folk tales. Warnings. Myths. But demons were real. They are thousands of years ago and we have reason to believe that they now walk the mortal realm.” Whispers rose again, louder and sharper. Easton continued, “They were powerful. Corrupting. And nearly impossible to kill. It took every magical race working together to push them out of this realm and seal them in the Underworld.”

Sighing, she looked at what she had written down so far: Demons exist in some form, in almost all belief systems. Demons are masters of illusion, often appearing as what their targets fear/desire. Demons are hyper-intelligent. Some scientists (really?) believe demons to be currents of electrical plasma, who travel like waves. She questioned adding that last point since it seemed so bizarre and left-field. Especially with the mention of “scientists”. She however, dug deeper and found a small but compelling amount of scientific (or para-scientific) study of such things, which had all come to similar conclusions, so figured she may as well add it to the list anyway.

“Not fucking creepy at all.” Each page held the name of different demons, Lucifer, Mammon, Asmodeus, Satan, Beelzebub, Leviathan, Belphegor, and Chaos. Each one had a short description alongside a sketched photo of the demon themself and a symbol. I’d read through each one, finally landing on Chaos. He looked different than the rest of the sketches, as if he were a last minute add to the book. The drawing of him was smeared, as if the artist rushed. His symbol was different. Less intricate than the others.

It was then that Torelli’s red eyes betrayed him, they shone in the distance. Again, Jesse took after him in full blast. He timed his approach and fired his haunches. He flew through the air, aiming for the neck. But it was too strong to rip off. The two stared balefully at the other for a few seconds until Jake approached menacingly and stopped as well beside Jesse, snarling. ‘I shall fight, but not today’ the demon said, forming rapidly back to the priest’s form who fell flat. And then appeared on the horizon abound of black clouds drifting towards the alps. Bats!

V. The demon king, Lucifer Black is the most dangerous and brutal demon. He is the cruel and dark king of the devil's kingdom named Lucifer's hell. The demon of deception and savagery. He loved to kill, and had dark magic that could rip his enemies into pieces quickly of a second. Going against him meant death because he is the strongest demon in the realm. He was merciless and everyone feared him, even his family. His body, his features, and his voice had authority among the whole demons. And looked like he was made for the night of all of its sins... Years of war and battle made him cold, his enemies made him more ruthless.

While David was distracted with the other minions, Dorime began to splash ink in the wall using the onyx. He shaped it using his little hands and used his flying golem for the unreachable places. He painted a humanoid striking a T-pose in the center of the wall, with lines near its body, as if they represented that it was glowing. Near, he made the crude shapes of various of his new and older brothers: Skeletor was a small horned humanoid, lumps represented the rats and squirrels, some tunneling worms, vultures, beetles, and even some ants.

The handle has intricate, subtle carvings around the inlaid green gems, and when I squint closer, I realize what they are. It’s a depiction of demons. Horned, small winged creatures dancing around the gemstones like a ritual ring. I have seen these illustrations in old books, and they were the first of the Demonics from history. No one knows what they looked like or how they evolved, but some believe exaggerated drawings were made after rare glimpses or from fairy tales based on them. It seems like he gave me a reminder of who he is, and I wonder at the value and beauty of this piece. I doubt it's something he happened upon in the forest; it looks more like an intentional gift.
