I take a deep, worried breath and I walk to him. I have some big news to give him, but I don’t know how he’s going to react when he hears it. "Hey, there," I murmur, looking down at his face, "You okay, Pup?" "I'm whatever. How was the Dump?" He asks, not even looking at me. I sigh and brush his golden hair away from his forehead. It's long again, just like it was when I first saw him, before he buzzed it off. And he's depressed, but at least he hasn't needed his meds yet.

He only nods and keeps an eye on the open door. “If you want to go home, you need to brighten up. Even if you fake it. You have a better chance of getting what you want than sulking in a corner. The nurses here all keep their eyes open for anyone who looks or seems depressed. You can be as healthy as anyone out there, if you do not look happy, you got yourself a permanent ticket to stay here.” Mike speaks quickly. “Do you want to get out of here?” Ally asks Mike. Mike’s eyes suddenly widen and he shakes his head slowly.

Mico asked, standing in front of me. I looked at him with a frown. I didn’t want to get in a bad mood, but my friends kept treating me like I was troubled. I was just thinking deeply. “Hey, don’t disturb him. He’s thinking about something serious,” Shaun suddenly said. Shaun’s instincts are really strong. “Psh, maybe he’s depressed,” Mico said, looking at me with pity because I wasn’t talking much. “Stop it, Mico. You’re the one with a problem in your head,” Liam shot back.

I looked at Micah and said softly, "Micah, do you mind if I call you Micky from now on?" Essel burst out laughing, "Micky... I love Micky Mouse! Ms. Chancey, trust me. My brother is as smart as Micky!" Micah's eyes held disbelief.

No one else in the town heard that hum. MICKEY WROTE PROFUSELY. His knuckles were shades of violet and blue and his ink was at the clutch of draining. Only the persimmon light from his night lamp lit his sweaty and greasy notebook, leatherbound and obviously used to the point that the sheets are loosely coming off its spine. Let’s eavesdrop on the personal musings of Mickey. An entry from journal #8:

He was depressed. “Get up! Why are you acting like this?” Ayden felt his heart sink when he saw his brother in the same situation once again. When Alecor left him first, he was like this and he changed into a bad-tempered guy. Now when this happened the second time, Ayden had a feeling that he would somehow die on the inside. Micah gulped down air and shook his head sideways. Now that Ayden was here Micah felt his emotions boil up into tears. He tried to keep them in but they were too many to hide.

But I was not prepared for this change in hierarchy. - You get used to it. Micky leans back in his chair and keeps his head down. - I also wanted to ask you something. I don't know if you'll find it funny. - what is it?

Mike echoed “ Don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t know you were such a Debbie Downer. Like I really don’t get why you would think that you should be burning in this self-loathing and depression, like let me tell you, it seriously feels Ike someone has kicked me in the balls and I don’t even have balls. “ Mike lowered the can of beer but he didn’t look at her nor did he speak.
