I hoped we could become closer friends someday. As night fell, a storm intensified outside. The wind howled, the rain poured heavily, and I noticed a shortage of electricity. It was dark, with only emergency flashlights and candles providing faint light. I saw Derek looking anxious and unsettled in the corner. Did he have a fear of the dark?

Storm believed that she wouldn’t be receiving an answer then. “It’s absolutely sad that it had been stolen. You have to get it back, by all means. It contains instructions and ways to conquer the darkness that is coming.” Storm clucked her tongue in dismay, feeling like pulling her hair. But was it her fault? Was there a way she could have hidden it from the vampire? How had the latter even known that she had the book? She had never brought it out in the open; the book had never left her house. “But that’s alright. Just hang in there, and make the most of the opportunities. About the red beast that had troubled your dreams, and the woman that had given you nightmares for years, you will find

A very clear move that she already knows I am suspecting her but isn’t ready to face it. Well, now she has my attention, and it's not going anywhere. “There is nothing decent to eat,” Cole shakes his head, and I snide. The bastard is all about healthy foods and very strict about where he eats and I shake my head because he might as well shift and go out hunting at this point. Something bloody and alive writhing under me would do the trick too, to be honest. “so, how do you two know each other?” Dean asks Storm and she laughs a little even though it's forced. Then her eyes flicker at me in a second before she looks at Dean again.

I have no doubt that she’ll be successful and in a fast paced city like New York I’m certain she’ll have no end of customers. The rest of the ride home was quiet, Carrie fell asleep while I drove. I was secretly thankful for her sleeping after all the talk of Santos. Although it did get me thinking about my own life. Now I have this book deal where do I go from here? Will my novels really be successful? Will I have to relocate myself? The questions I had were endless. Before I knew it I was pulling up onto Carrie’s driveway. I felt a sense of emptiness as I turned off the ignition. I should start looking for a place of my own now that Carrie is leaving, I hadn’t thought about finding somewhe

After this author's note I will drop the first three chapters. The Warrior's Wild Mate follows Julia Kane, Dillon's sister and Zoe's best friend. It is a short Novella of her love story as she gives Derek Reed, a pack warrior and her brother's second-in-command, a run for his money. Julia and her wolf have always been a little wild and Derek has never been the type to settle down, which suits her just fine. Derek can't understand what it is about Julia that gets under his skin, but he wants to find out.

Storm Mike, who had been watching us closely, suddenly said, “I thought your name was Lena, but he just called you Storm, why?” I looked at Doyle, not knowing how to answer Mike for a moment. Doyle went to speak on my behalf, but I shook my head at him.

Derek's alarm sounded the next morning and he stretched his arms expecting to meet warm flesh as usual but his arms met a cold bed, he opened his eyes and looked at the empty bed, memories of what happened flood into his brain and he closed his eyes as if to put away the pain he was feeling, he desperately wanted to believe her yesterday but he couldn't allow himself to get caught in her lies again, she had been seeing Stefan without his knowledge and had hid it from him and when he had come home that day after receiving those photos, he had heard them discussing, rather planning, she was with him for his money, she might have staged a damsel in distress act in the first place to get him to

If Maggie didn’t feel they could improvise then she couldn’t. “Think, think!” Tara shouted as she repeatedly slapped her forehead with the palm of her hand. Brandon made his way to the rifle, picked it up and walked over to Dennis. “I know this is the way I choose to go,” he said. “What about you?” Dennis stared at the rifle in silence and then in horror at Dominic who was pouring the last of the gasoline onto the porch. The sun was on the horizon and it was easier to see the field of ugly beasts mingling amongst Maggie’s remains. The gruesomeness of the situation turned his stomach. Bile filled his throat as he quickly turned away.

Rumors called Clive Hartley many things—brujo, shaman, zombie, the walking dead, even—but Derek had never believed them, always figuring they were bullshit stories and nothing else. Now, however? He desperately hoped the stories were true, because if not . . . he was fucked. “People say you know about this kinda shit. Ya gotta help me.” Clive Hartley leaned into hissing lantern light, bright green eyes narrowed, deep lines creasing his thick skin. “Somethin’s growin inside ya. Ken see it in yer eyes.” “Please.” A pause. Hartley folded his hands on the wooden table. “Tell me how.” Derek shuddered as pieces of himself fell away inside.
