Bianca Silence follows our swim as I climb onto the small ledge, which doesn't give much room to wiggle. Despite being underneath the rock and behind the water, it's surprisingly hot under here. In a matter of ten or so minutes, I dry off as I sit cross-legged whilst trying not to breathe too heavily for fear I might touch Niko in any way that encourages him to believe I want anything more than to sit here beside him in this silence. Once we are all done checking we jump into the water 2 by 2 after our instructor already went in as first. When we are all inside the instructor gives us a last reminder of the hand signals we have to use while diving and tells us to not to wander off too much so we can easily come back to the boat. We all nod and one by one we dive into the deep water, me and Conor as the last couple holding hands. "I need a moment to get dressed." Reaching into the door, Nico grabs me by the arm and pulls me out of the room. "There is no time for that." I trip over my feet and fall to the ground as Nico yanks me from the safety of the bedroom. I feel a surge of pain course through my ribs, and the stitches pop on my chest. The oversized shirt I am wearing flips up my waist, exposing my panties. I hear a grunt and look behind me to see Deimos staring at me with widened eyes. His eyes graze over me on my hands and knees with my ass up in the air, and he shifts uncomfortably where he stands.

He ran towards the edge of the bridge where May had stood before she jumped down the bridge then he dived into the river to save her. May who had initially closed her eyes when she jumped into the river, opened her eyes only to find out she was still in the river. Why was she still here? She thought if she had jumped down from the bridge then she would be transported back to her world just as she came here but why was she still here? Why was nothing happening? She tried to swim up but she found herself drowning to the bottom of the river. What was happening? What on earth was happening right now? She began to panic as she thought this could be the end of her. Was she going to die like this?

The door slammed shut, cutting off the roar of the sea crashing below the cliffs. I looked up into the most intense green eyes I’d ever seen. The man was tall, broad-shouldered, with wet black hair plastered to his forehead and stubble shadowing a sharp jaw. Water dripped from his white shirt, which stuck to a powerful chest. “You’re freezing,” he said, voice rough like gravel under tires. “I’m Nico. This is my place. You okay?” “Elena,” I answered, teeth chattering. “I got caught in the storm. My phone died. I saw the lights…”

Together, we moved forward through the water toward the cliff. The sea was clear and still. Diving was the closest thing to weightlessness I had ever experienced, and I barely had to work to glide toward the rock face. The only sounds were the steady rhythm of air flowing in and out through my regulator and the soft murmur of bubbles drifting up past my face toward the surface. Leo led the group, running his hands along the stone and working his way across it, searching for the opening. Rowan and Tiago swam up to help, while Atlas and I hung back. There simply wasn't room for all of us on that stretch of wall.
