Something watching from the shadows.
I reached the ground floor and found my way to the kitchen. It was enormous, all stainless steel and dark granite. I poured myself a glass of water and leaned against the counter, drinking it in slow, desperate gulps.
"You should be sleeping."
I spun around, the glass slipping from my hand, and shattering on the floor.
Luca stood in the doorway. He was shirtless, wearing only grey sweatpants that hung low on his hips. His chest was broad, sculpted, covered in a pattern of dark tattoos I had never seen before, tribal markings that seemed to move in the moonlight.
