"Eron, begin when you're ready."
Eron hesitated, looking at me one more time. I nodded, and he turned to the first pedestal.
The fae blood went in first, dark and shimmering with something that caught the light. The dragon blood followed, thick and orange like liquid fire. Then the vaelth blood, black and swirling, moved on its own, even after settling in the bowl.
Eron cut his own palm without flinching and let the blood drip into the fourth bowl. It was darker than I expected, almost purple, and seemed to absorb light rather than reflect it.
