"How's the little man?" "He says his numbers are better," I told her. She looked over at Eddie. "I knew it. You're tougher than those cancer cells. You're basically invincible." He gave her a thumbs up and then went back to his comic. For a moment, it was almost normal. Claire and I sipped lukewarm coffee. Eddie read quietly, every so often glancing at his pirate or adjusting the blanket around his legs. Then, without warning, he started coughing - a rough, chest-deep sound that made the room feel ten degrees colder.

Edwards jumped backward, escaping the splatter. “You’re gonna listen to the story about Daisy?” he ordered, with a bizarre grin pasted across his unshaved face. Edwards didn’t respond, but peered into Hanes’s unrepentant eyes, which showed no compassion in the repulsive human. “I said you’re wanna listen to the story about Daisy?” he repeated. Edwards’s tone spoke in a short whisper. “Yes, I will listen to the story about Daisy.” He had no option, well, even though he could just walk away.

His eyes narrowed slightly, not out of concern but renewed interest in Edward’s willingness to cooperate. He adjusted his position and placed one arm over the chair. “We are going to have a proper conversation now,” Adrian said calmly. He gestured slightly toward Edward, granting permission to continue speaking. “Start from where everything stopped making sense to you, and do not waste my time with emotions.” Edward swallowed before beginning, forcing himself to organize memories that still felt unstable. His voice came out slower as he tried to structure events in a logical sequence. “I was shot in the mountain,” he said. “I remember everything until that moment clearly.”

Natalie's POV The hospital reeked of disinfection and quietness. Almost a minute elapsed before I made any movement. My body had no desire to obey, yet my hand was still on the glass door handle. “This is humiliating,” Eddie said behind me. “You took me all the way over here just to look at a door as though it offended you personally?” I didn't turn. "I'm thinking." “You have been thinking half a minute. That's already suspicious."

He got up and looked around and felt another touch behind him. "Are you alright?". He heard from behind and shouted with so much fear, ready to run. "It's okay, I am someone like you". He heard again and looked back. He sighed when he noticed it was someone like him. "I am Eddie by name. I think I am lost". Eddie said to the boy. "I am Nike by name. I think something or someone is after me". Nike said, trying to catch his breath.

Eddy was so lost in her beauty that he did not see her stop in front of him. "Hey, mister! Here!" She snapped her fingers before Eddy, jolting him to reality. "Who are you?" "Uhm," Eddy suddenly became confused. He scratched his head that was not itching. "I, I, uhm-i..." he suddenly coughed. "I am Martin Derek, a writer. I have a letter for Mr. Antonio." "Martin Derek..." The woman drawled, looking at Eddy's messy red hair. His eyes were a brilliant shade of jade, shinning through the spectacles on the bridge of his nose. "You don't look like a 'Martin Derek'," she stated.

Eddy yelled as his hand went over his heart, and Brair, along with my parents, ran to him as I managed to gain my footing using the dining table. “Then accept it.” I said coldly as I steadied myself again with the help of Uncle Oskar. “Never! I demand to know why you have changed!” Eddy screamed as blood began to pour from his eyes from his tears. “Because I am sick… that hunter poisoned me.” I lied as I had lied so many times to my friend. “But— then let us help you.” Eddy begged, wincing in pain, trying to stand with the help of his mate Briar. My father rushed to my side as my mother stood by Eddy.

How pathetic. With the show on hiatus, I found myself with an abundance of free time. I secured my visa, packed my bags, and headed to the airport. While I was sitting in the lounge watching a show, someone slipped into the seat right next to me. It was Eddie, completely disguised. "We need to talk." Beyond the massive glass windows of the airport, the blue sky stretched out endlessly. He was dressed entirely in black and looked significantly thinner. A faint scar traced across his forehead. "What was your real reason for joining the show?"

He walked on the grass far enough that he could no longer hear the man speaking through a microphone. He then pulled out his phone and glanced at the caller. It was Gray. He picked it up. “Hello?” “Ed…” Eerily enough, that single word gave him the chills. Perhaps it was because of the fall weather or the fact that he was surrounded by hundreds of tombstones.

For a while, I wonder why we're still waiting, our plan worked, and we should be on our way.
