Chapter 29: A Desperate Stand Evie's breath caught in her throat, a strangled gasp lost in the cavern's echoing silence. Liam, her friend, her confidante, had become a stranger consumed by the darkness. The tendril's corruption had warped him, twisting his form with a malevolent energy and replacing his familiar blue eyes with a chilling red glow. The swarm of creatures, spawned from the darkness, surged towards her, their multifaceted eyes gleaming with a ravenous hunger. Panic threatened to overwhelm Evie, but she forced it down, channeling the desperation into a cold, steely resolve.

The glow around her wrists intensified, spreading up her arms in arcs of brilliant light. From the shadows, multiple figures began to emerge, their forms grotesque and shifting, flickering between humanoid and something far more sinister. Their eyes burned with hunger, reflecting the dying light of the twilight sky. One figure, larger than the rest, stepped forward, its aura almost tangible, pressing against the edges of Eva’s consciousness.

All he can hear was the sound of a kid crying for help. "Help me... I just want to play but he killed me." The voice of the little girl sounds familiar, Doctor Morgan was in fear that moment, but he tried to keep calm despite the creepy scenario. She began drawing a diagram in salt. “Valeria has joined with a cult that predates written language. They call themselves The Choir of Hollow Eyes. Their magic is blood-based, but they’ve corrupted it — spliced it with soul-anchoring and dream-channeling. You can’t fight this with guns alone.” Bain stepped out from the shadowed archway, arms crossed. “I don’t plan to fight it with just guns.”
